Chapter 130

Evelyn could hardly tear her eyes away from the ceramic pieces displayed in the glass cabinets.

“Mom, did Great-grandma use to do these things, too?”

“Yes, she did.”

Amelia started introducing Amelia to the history and background of these ceramic pieces.

Evelyn was enraptured by the stories Amelia told her.

“A housewife pretending to be cultured?”

Just then, they heard Luke’s voice from behind, dripping with sarcasm and disdain.

Amelia looked up and saw Christopher, Nicole, and Nathan, who were here to attend the art exhibition as well.

Christopher looked indifferently at her.

Nathan looked at Evelyn and scoffed, “Just listen to her talk nonsense. You’ll only embarrass yourself back at the kindergarten if you talk about those things.”

Amelia looked at Luke and said, “The exhibition hall is so huge. Why do you keep coming over to me?”

“This is just a coincidence. We brought our son here for some cultural exposure and to hone his appreciation for the arts. Since you can bring Evelyn here, all the more we can bring Nathan here, too,” Nicole said.

Luke wrapped his arms around his chest and smiled, his eyes filled with disdain. “Alright, I can’t be bothered to check out these mediocre art pieces displayed here. What about these things can she talk about? Only things that everyone already knows about.”

He looked at Amelia and added disdainfully, “All you’re capable of is showing off to a young child.”

Throughout it all, Christopher stood at the side as though he were a passerby, remaining silent as he watched the scene unfold.

Amelia smirked. “Mr. Carter, you’re always trying to bootlick the three of them. I don’t have a problem with that, really. But quit barking at others for no rhyme or reason. We’ll be off now.”

With that, Amelia grabbed Evelyn’s hand and walked off.

She didn’t give Luke the chance to make a rebuttal, and his face turned dark with anger. “How dare she insinuate that I’m a dog?!”

“You know how sharp-tongued Mrs. Zephyr is. Why do you keep provoking her?” Nicole said with a smile.

“Was I wrong to say what I said?”

He turned to Christopher, trying to seek some support.

Christopher shifted his gaze and said nothing as he headed into the exhibition hall.

Amelia continued walking through the exhibition with Evelyn.

As they progressed through the exhibition, the pieces on display looked even more exquisite and finely made.

Amelia saw a white ceramic vase with flowers carved on it and stood stunned looking at it.

She couldn’t locate this ceramic vase when she was tidying up her grandmother’s belongings after she passed. She

thought it was lost, and didn’t expect to see it once more at this exhibition.

Amelia was pleasantly surprised and immediately turned around to try looking for the exhibition curator.

The curator followed her to the vase.

“Is this ceramic vase for sale?” Amelia asked.

It was her grandmother’s belongings, after all. She didn’t leave behind many things after she passed on.

Amelia was elated to see something that her grandmother used to own here.

Evelyn saw how happy her mom was and started to pay close attention to the vase. It was white in color, but the flowers carved on it looked so vivid and lifelike, as though they were real.

The curator looked at the ceramic vase and furrowed his brows. “You have good taste, Madam, but this is the highlight of the exhibition and is not for sale.”

Amelia didn’t want to give up. “Can you please help me with this? I’m willing to pay any amount for it.”

She wanted to have everything her grandmother left behind What’s more, this ceramic vase was exceptionally important to her.

Her grandmother once said that she made this vase specially for her, but she had no idea how it ended up displayed at this exhibition.

“I’m very sorry, but this item is not for sale. If you insist on buying it, I’ll have to ask the exhibition organizers whether they’re willing to sell it.”

Amelia nodded. “Thank you for the help.”

After the curator left, she stood there waiting for him to speak with the exhibition organizers.

“This vase is so beautiful, Chris. I want to buy it!”
