Chapter 137
Amelia ignored Nathan’s demands.
She had work to do tonight.
As for breakfast and dinner, Anna was around to prepare their meals. There was no need for her to cook.
Amelia remained silent, while Nathan said nothing more.
When they arrived at the door, Amelia entered the new passcode from memory. Yet, an error message popped up.
Amelia scoffed. Were they going to change the passcode each time she knew what it was?
Nathan stepped forward and keyed in the passcode to unlock the door.
Amelia was surprised to see the string of numbers.
It was the old passcode.
She truly didn’t understand what they were thinking. Did they have a screw loose up there?
However, she didn’t pay much attention to the passcode. Instead, she reminded Evelyn and Nathan to start doing their homework.

Evelyn noticed that the desk that used to be hers was now covered with junk and toys.
“You’re not a part of this family, anyway. All those things belong to me now,” Nathan said.
Evelyn stood stunned for a moment, pursing her lips. She lowered her head, unwilling to fight with Nathan. She had long gotten used to this over the years.
She turned around and headed to the coffee table to do her homework.
Nathan stopped her. “That table is mine, too! Go away. You can do your homework on the floor. Dad and Mom said that everything in this house is mine. Nothing here belongs to you or that stepmom.”
Evelyn’s eyes started turning red.
Nathan was relentless. “But if you’re willing to do my homework, I might just let you use my desk.”
“Your homework is your responsibility. Do what you’re supposed to do.”
Nathan was bent on making things difficult for Evelyn.
Amelia walked out of the study, looking clearly displeased. Evelyn, come in here and do your homework.”
Evelyn walked over with her homework in her hands.
Nathan saw her rushing into Amelia’s arms.
Amelia carried Evelyn up with a smile, rubbing her head affectionately and comforting her.
Nathan scoffed.
He had to admit that Amelia’s embrace always felt so warn He would always fall into a deep, comfortable sleep, surrounded by the subtle fragrance of her shampoo.
But he didn’t care for it anymore! Hugs and sleeping with mommies were things that only girls did. He was a boy. He would never hug his mom, especially now that he was all grown up.
Nathan scoffed again and hugged his homework to his ches. He tried to squeeze into the study to do his work.

He sat right next to Amelia.
Amelia looked at him, but said nothing.
After dinner, she went to the master bedroom, but didn’t see her grandmother’s ceramic vase there. Her brows furrowed, and she gave Christopher a call.
“It’s in the cabinet in the study,” he said.
The study was usually out of bounds for Amelia, and Christopher never allowed her inside.
He knew that she wanted to take the vase, yet deliberately put it in the study. Was he trying to make it difficult for her to get it?
She looked blankly at the door of the study. “You locked it.
Christopher said, “I didn’t.”
Amelia was stunned.
She walked over and tried the door handle. To her surprise, the door to the study opened with a click. She immediately saw the vase displayed in the cabinet.
“Thanks. I see it now.”
After hanging up, Amelia entered the study to take the vase. Just as she was walking out, she spotted a proposal on the desk.
Amelia was stunned.
That was a proposal she wrote!
It was her last proposal when she resigned from Infotech Group, detailing the direction and trajectory of the new company after its launch.
After she resigned, she heard that the proposal was put on Hold. She certainly didn’t expect to see it in the study.
She retracted her gaze, not paying it much attention. Whatever it was, it was Christopher’s own affairs.
At nine in the evening, Evelyn was fast asleep.
Yet, Amelia noticed that the lights in Nathan’s room were still switched on.
She decided to remind Nathan to go to bed soon, lest he throw a tantrum tomorrow morning due to lack of sleep. She had no desire to deal with the trouble.
Opening his door, she saw him doing handicrafts at his desk. It was a piece adorned with many rare gems.
In her last life, she remembered staying by his side as he meticulously worked on such handicrafts. It was risky for a young child to handle sharp tools, and she thought it was safer to supervise him.
