Just then, Caleb's assistant whispered something into his ear. He immediately stood up and left the reception room.
He told Jasper and Amelia to make their way out.
"Birds of a feather flock together, indeed!" Jasper snarled as he glared at Caleb walking away. "He's equally blind! To think that I thought he was a fair and impartial man who took work seriously!"
Amelia's brows furrowed. She had more or less figured out what was going on.
They were all from the same social circle, and using work to exact revenge wasn't entirely impossible.
Jasper was so furious, he swore he would cut off all professional ties with Alechemax from now on. With Amelia in Nova Nine's team, once the project was completed, he was confident that partners would come fighting to work with them.
Alchemax wasn't the only company providing unique materials. There was no need for Jasper to get all bent out of shape over one company.
Amelia remained calm. She wasn't letting the misunderstanding affect her emotions, especially after she understood the reason behind Caleb's rejection.
She had gathered the details and information on various materials, which would be helpful for future comparison.
After the press conference, Amelia found out that Christopher had brought Nicole to the hospital. He had always been protective of Nicole.
However, Amelia no longer cared about them.
Jasper thought that the earlier they got divorced, the better.
After Amelia and Jasper returned to their office in Nova Nine, they analyzed and looked into the information shared at the press conference held by Alchemax earlier.
When they were finally done, Winona wrapped an arm around Amelia's shoulder and said, "It's the weekend tomorrow. Join me for some drinks?"
Amelia shook her head. "No thanks, I'm bringing Evelyn out for some fun."
"Again?" Winona said with a frown. "You hardly have time for yourself, working over the weekdays and spending time with your child on the weekend. What about your own fun and relaxation? Don't you want that?"
Amelia lowered her head.
Her own time.
She had never had her own time, not even in her past life. All her time revolved around the Lanes at her own expense.
It was accompanied by a picture of Nicole wearing the gem bracelet, but her face wasn't shown.
Amelia froze for a split second.
She had blacklisted Christopher, but forgot about blacklisting Nathan.
She immediately went ahead to blacklist Nathan as well. She didn't want to see that father-son pair ever again.
After Evelyn was done in the washroom, she said sweetly to Amelia, "I want to wear something pink when I ride a horse today. I want to ride a pony, too. May I?"
It was dangerous for a young child like her to ride a horse by herself.
Amelia didn't allow Evelyn to do that by herself the last time, which was why Evelyn was whining for it now.
"We can try it out," Amelia said with a smile.
"Yay! You're the best, Mom!"
