Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 150

"Yes, she was."

Christopher didn't deny it.

Dorothy sighed.

"I heard that you've been getting very close to Nicole. I know you two grew up together and are good friends. But you've been seeing her so much recently, you have to be careful about the rumors spreading about you two. Can't you spare a thought for Mia?"

When she saw Christopher remaining silent, Dorothy went on.

"I know Nicole is a nice lady, but you can't keep going places with her. She might be loud and boisterous like a man, but she's ultimately not one. You have to keep your distance from her!"

Christopher listened quietly to Dorothy, but he was still looking at the stock market figures on his tablet.

Dorothy flared up, "Hey, I'm talking to you! Are you listening to me?"

Christopher looked up at her and said blandly, "Mia doesn't mind all that. She gets along well with Nicole."

At his words, Dorothy's face fell. Amelia never talked about Nicole or relayed to Dorothy any grievances she might have felt over the years.

"Just because Mia doesn't talk about it doesn't mean she doesn't mind!"

Christopher put his tablet down. "Grandma, she's an adult. She's fully capable of voicing her displeasure if she feels it. You don't need to speak up for her at every turn."

Dorothy glared at him. "What I mean is, don't let your wife suffer from any injustice or unfair treatment."

Christopher smiled.

"You're always standing up for her, condoning and doting on her. How would she suffer from any injustice? She can always send the children to Whitmore Manor if she doesn't want to take care of them. It's completely up to her. She can do whatever she pleases at home. Since when was she subject to any unfair treatment?"

Every word of his made sense, rendering Dorothy speechless.

Finally, she said, "You said that you got injured from saving Mia. Where is she? Why isn't she around?"

Christopher said, "I'm fine, so she's at home taking care of Evelyn."

He always had an answer for Dorothy's questions.

Dorothy could only sigh, resigned to the fate that she had to leave the youngsters to their own devices and solve their own problems.

Mom said that Dad had a new lady. Does that mean he now has a new family?

So Dad…

Dad doesn't want her and her mom anymore?

She had always been looking forward to having her dad in her life, and was trying very hard to be outstanding to attract her dad's attention.

"Mom, am I not obedient enough? I've never taken Nathan's toys or snacks. I never took Dad from him, either. Did I do something wrong to make Dad hate me?"

Amelia's heart broke. "No. You're a sweet, obedient child, darling."

Evelyn finally couldn't hold herself back. Tears fell from the corners of her eyes.

"Mom… You weren't the one who moved out, right? It was Dad who chased us out and refused to let us stay at home, right? He wants us out of the house to make way for his new lady…"

Evelyn's body was racked with sobs, all the emotions accumulated over the past few days finally erupting.

"I'll be good! Mom, tell Dad not to hate you just because he hates me…" she sobbed.
