Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 151

Evelyn had always thought that her dad didn't like her because she wasn't good enough. Because of that, her dad didn't like her mom.

Evelyn's words weighed heavily on Amelia's heart.

She looked at Evelyn. She lifted a hand to wipe Evelyn's tears away, gently comforting her.

"Darling, whether someone loves you or not isn't dependent on whether you're good or not. Someone might not like something no matter how good it is. You'll understand this better when you grow up."

Evelyn looked tearfully at Amelia.

Amelia pulled her daughter tenderly into her embrace and said softly, "We'll just throw bad things away and not dwell on them anymore."

She might have seen through Christopher, but her daughter hadn't.

All a young child like her wanted was a father's love. Amelia couldn't erase that desire from Evelyn's heart overnight.

However, she knew that Evelyn would one day be rudely awakened by her dad's cold indifference as time passed.

The only thing Amelia could do was to try to soften the emotional trauma when the time eventually came.

-

Early morning the next day, Amelia sent Evelyn to her kindergarten before heading to Nova Nine's office to continue working on the project.

They had recently entered the testing phase and she needed to keep a close eye on progress.

Meanwhile at the hospital, Nicole ordered breakfast the moment she woke up before going to Christopher's ward to visit him.

She was still taken aback when she saw the bandages on Christopher's body.

"You're so…" Nicole took a deep breath, her heart clenching tight. "I don't want to sound pretentious, but your injuries really look worrying."

"He got injured because he cares too much for you. I'm sure he freaked out when he saw you in danger."

Luke's voice sounded from outside the door.

He rushed over the moment he heard about the accident.

Nicole said remorsefully, "It's all my fault. If I hadn't pulled Hurricane's reins, it wouldn't have lost control…"

Luke sat on the couch and hooked his leg up. "Don't blame yourself. All is good as long as you're not injured. He saved you willingly. I'm sure if this were to happen again, he'd do the same thing and risk his life just to save you."

"I know Chris is good to me," Nicole said with a chuckle. "I'm just worried that Mrs. Zephyr will misunderstand our relationship."

The mention of Amelia made Luke say, "What could she possibly misunderstand? Where is she, by the way? Did she not come to visit you?"

He looked at Christopher.

"Didn't Nicole say that she was at the scene, too? You indirectly saved her, too. How could she miss this chance to appear before you?"

Amelia always managed to seize whatever opportunity that came by to appear in front of Christopher.

Christopher's friends had long gotten used to seeing her pester Christopher using a myriad of underhanded tactics.

Yet, she wasn't here when a perfect opportunity presented itself.
