Nicole said, "Mrs. Zephyr is at home taking care of the kids. She can't keep coming to the hospital. What's more, I'm already here."

"That's true," Luke said with a smirk. "A woman like her should spend all her time in the kitchen. Taking care of the house and her children is where her worth lies."

That was way better than revolving around Jasper, dreaming of enhancing her social status and self-worth through Nova Nine. She should first question whether she had what it takes in the first place.

"Jasper likes Amelia quite a lot," Luke suddenly remarked. "Jasper brought her to our subsidiary office, claiming that she was in charge of the project. He's trying so hard to elevate Amelia's status, but her lack of abilities is clear for all to see."

Luke's eyes narrowed.

"Are they already on fourth base?"

How could a man be willing to do so much for a woman without anything in exchange?

"She's so blatantly having an affair," Luke said to Christopher, who was lying on the hospital bed. "Chris, aren't you going to do something about it?"

Christopher continued drinking the chicken soup, cool as a cucumber.

He didn't seem to care about Luke's various conjectures regarding Amelia and Jasper. He didn't even seem to care about who Amelia was with and how deep their relationship was.

The cold indifference and apathy on Christopher's face made Luke drop the subject.

Christopher didn't even care about Amelia. Why would he care who Amelia was with?

During lunch time, Amelia received Dorothy's call the moment she stepped out of the test site.

"Mia, how is Chris today? Did you visit him?"

Dorothy specifically gave her a call to check in on things.

She had a chat with Christopher yesterday and found out that something seemed to be wrong with things between them.

Amelia paused for a moment before lowering her head. "Yeah, he's doing well."

Her answer was vague and perfunctory.

Dorothy had always been good to her, always taking her side against the Zephyrs. Dorothy, along with her maternal grandmother, had watched her grow up.

After her grandmother passed away, Dorothy's love for Amelia became even more apparent, as though she were worried that she might lack love.

However, Amelia really couldn't accept Dorothy's attempts to reconcile them at this point in time.

She composed herself and turned around to prepare to go for lunch.

Just then, her phone rang again.

It was Felix.

Amelia's eyes turned dark. It didn't seem like good news that Felix was calling at this time.

"Uncle?"

Felix said solemnly, "Go to Northon Central Hospital right now to see your mom."

Amelia's breath caught in her throat. "What happened to my mom?"
