Amelia arched a brow at Tania.
Was this woman trying to strike a partnership or acquire Ascent Corporation? She clearly had her eyes on Ascent Corporation's project.
"Does shamelessness run in your family's blood?" Amelia scoffed. "Why are all of you so shameless?"
Tania's face turned dark with displeasure.
"I gave you a chance, and you're blowing it. Why are you being so aggressive? I just thought that things were getting tough with your family. You're repaying kindness with evil."
Tania smirked.
"I wanted to help you out, but this is the kind of attitude you show to your future benefactor? No wonder Christopher doesn't like you. How do you expect a man to care for a repulsive woman like you?"
Tania's voice was dripping with mockery.
Both Tania and Amelia's father, Jonathan, blamed her for being unable to capture Christopher's heart.
"What's the point of having a man care for you?" Amelia smirked back at her. "Relying on a man for power, influence, and social status?"
She despised that.
Tania and Nicole liked calling themselves independent women who relied on no one else, yet were always taking the back door in secret.
"This is called a positive, win-win collaboration," Tania said. "Why doesn't your husband support you? You're hopeless, that's why. You're useless, just like your mom. Ascent Corporation is doomed in your hands."
Tania tucked her hair behind her ear.
"Why don't you tell your mom to hurry up and divorce your dad, and hand over Ascent Corporation? Perhaps that might give the company a chance at survival," she added haughtily.
"You're clearly enjoying being a homewrecker and spending the money of another woman's husband. If I were you, I wouldn't have the cheek to be out in public," Amelia sneered.
"You…!" Tania glared at Amelia. "You're just like your mom, clinging onto a man and refusing to let go!"
She claimed not to love him, yet she refused to divorce him.
Tania looked as though her savior had emerged and pushed away from Amelia.
"Chris, look at her! We're just ordinary partners, and she slapped me for no reason."
Amelia turned back and saw Nicole helping Christopher approach them. His gait was unstable, and it looked as though he had injured his leg.
She scoffed inwardly. Despite his injuries, he insisted on coming over to stand up for Tania.
"Mrs. Zephyr…" Nicole said with a frown. "You can't slap my mom, even if you really don't like me."
Christopher ordered Amelia, "Apologize to her."
Apologize?
Christopher was always like that, demanding that Amelia apologize indiscriminately without asking what happened and simply assuming that their words were the truth.
He didn't care for Amelia one bit, hence why he didn't bother trying to find out more. No matter who was right or wrong, she had to be the one to apologize.
