Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 162

"Why should I?"

Amelia looked at Christopher's cold, hard face.

"Christopher Zephyr, what right do you have to command me?"

She turned and looked icily at Tania.

"If this happens again, I won't let you off with just a simple slap."

With that threatening look on her face, Amelia looked exceptionally intimidating. Having said that, she turned to walk down the stairs.

"Chris," Tania said with a frown. "That girl is…"

Tania held her cheek and started to complain.

"Your wife is seriously… Forget it! I don't want to hold a grudge against someone so much younger than I am. She might be jealous of Nicole, so she slapped me. I approached her out of the kindness of my heart to suggest a collaboration with their company to help them. But now…"

Tania sighed.

"Perhaps it was not fated to be."

Christopher's face remained cold. Upon seeing Amelia walk off, he retracted his gaze and said nothing more.

He turned to leave without a word.

"Chris, don't be mad! I'm sure she didn't mean it." Nicole hurried over to hold him steady. "She probably did that in a fit of anger. She asked for a divorce yesterday, and now Ascent Corporation isn't doing well. I'm sure she's beyond anxious…"

Tania smirked as she approached them.

"It's fine, Chris. If you two have problems in your marriage, just talk things through. I don't mind it, really. But as someone who has gone through something like this before, I have to remind you. If a woman no longer desires the family, perhaps divorce is the best way forward."

-

Amelia felt breathless when she left the hospital.

Why were they everywhere she went?

She was about to get in the car when her phone rang. It was a call from the hospital.

"Ms. Sinclair, we'd like to inform you that we've upgraded your mother's ward."

Amelia rubbed her temple. Finally, some good news.

She took a deep breath and walked toward the lift in her heels.

When she walked past a corner, she tripped on something and lurched forward.

At the next second, a huge hand grabbed her wrist. The refreshing scent of sandalwood filled her nose.

"Be careful."

A gentle voice sounded from above her.

Amelia steadied herself and looked up. "Thank you."

The man, wearing a black shirt, looked very young. Despite that, he exuded the down-to-earth and dependable aura of a mature man.

"Don't mention it," he said with a smile. "Do you know if I should take this lift to reach the office of Mr. Langley of Nova Nine upstairs?"

Amelia stood stunned for a moment.

"Let me bring you upstairs. You are?"

The man smiled and said, "Lincoln Spencer, Navitech."
