Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 172

Chapter 172

Dorothy glared at Christopher. “Didn’t you hear Evelyn calling, for you?”

“I did,” Christopher said. “Let me send you back home.”

“Mia, I’ll drop by to visit Evelyn again tomorrow,” Dorothy said.

“No need for that, Grandma. Evelyn is fine, so please don’t go to all that trouble,” Amelia said.

Dorothy looked at Amelia, her heart aching

Amelia had always been sensible and thoughtful. She never bothered fighting for herself or for her rights.

Precisely because of that, Dorothy was always worried about Amelia. She would always keep a close eye on whether their married life was blissful or not.

Dorothy called for her driver. She didn’t want Christopher to send her back home. His hand was still injured. Although he was recovering well, he was not fully healed yet.

“Take care of your wife,” Dorothy reminded him before she left. “What’s going on between you two?”

“Nothing,” Christopher said to Dorothy. “We’re doing very well.”

Dorothy looked doubtfully at him.

“That had better be the case!” She paused for a moment before lamenting, “Mia will never be fine with letting me care for Evelyn from now on. Why didn’t you watch her closely?”

“Evelyn is your great-granddaughter. You’ll be able to see her anytime you want,” Christopher assured her.

Dorothy sighed before getting into the car and leaving

Amelia didn’t know when Christopher left. He never told her his whereabouts, anyway.

They were also going to be divorced very soon. There was no need for him to tell her his whereabouts.

She simply found it ironic that he didn’t seem to care when his own daughter was injured.

Amelia really had Nicole to thank this time. If it weren’t for Nicole, she might have to wait even longer to get divorced.

Well, all these no longer mattered.

What mattered most was that she was finally going to get divorced.

On Sunday morning, Christopher received a call from his company’s legal department.

“Mr. Zephyr, we have a lawyer’s letter addressed to your name and not the company’s. Perhaps you want to…”

“When did it come?” Christopher asked.

“Two weeks ago.”

The legal department processed the files received in chronological order. As a company with overseas dealings,

it naturally received many legal documents.

“Have it sent to my office,” Christopher ordered.

Very soon, the secretary sent the document to Christopher’s office.

He tore open the envelope and saw a divorce petition in it. Today was the deadline for his response.

His eyes dimmed as he quickly scanned through the document. A cold smirk stretched across his face.

He threw the document into the shredder before making a call on his phone.

Meanwhile, Amelia was on the phone with Cyrus about the divorce proceedings. Now that they could go straight to the clerk’s office without raising a divorce petition, things were much easier.

However, Amelia wanted to discuss the terms of the divorce and have the divorce papers signed.

She didn’t want anything except for custody of Evelyn.

Christopher didn’t like Evelyn and wouldn’t fight with her for that.

“If he wants custody of Evelyn, he naturally has the rights to that. If he wants to fight with you for it, you two will still have to go to court. I’ll send you the agreement once I have it drafted,” Cyrus said. 1

In the afternoon, Amelia was in the hospital visiting Evelyn.

Despite feeling woozy from the fever, Evelyn was still trying to comfort Amelia, assuring her that she was fine.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

“Mrs. Zephyr, Mr. Zephyr is waiting for you downstairs,” Nigel said. “He wants to discuss the divorce agreement with you.”

Amelia reminded Evelyn to stay in the ward before turning to head downstairs.

In a private booth in a cafe, a set of divorce papers lay on the table.

Christopher was all decked out in black, his gaze landing on Amelia as he put his cup of coffee down.

“Take a look and sign if you’re fine with it.”
