Luke saw Amelia sign her name without any hesitation, which sent some of his assumptions crumbling.

The next second, however, he thought that she must be playing hard to get as part of her scheme. They weren’t actually getting their divorce certificate from the clerk’s office, after all.

He chuckled, but said nothing more.

He wanted to see if she remained just as resolute the day they went to the clerk’s office.

Henry handed Amelia another copy of the divorce papers. “Two copies of the original document.”

Amelia stood up and looked at Christopher. “See you at the clerk’s office tomorrow at ten in the morning.”

Her eyes were cold, and her voice was even icier. There was no affection left between them.

With that, she turned to leave.

Luke watched her walk away and furrowed his brows. “She’s quite straightforward today.”

Henry clicked the pen cap in place and stood up, looking at Luke.

“Ms. Sinclair looks very firm about the divorce.”

He then turned to Christoper.

“Mr. Zephyr, feel free to call me if you have any questions from here on.”

Christopher nodded in acknowledgement.

Amelia returned to the hospital after signing the papers.

Evelyn’s condition was gradually looking up.

Amelia sat by the bedside and combed her fingers through her daughter’s fine hair.

“Mom…”

“Yes?”

“I heard Uncle say that you’re divorcing Dad…?”

Evelyn was too young to fully grasp the idea of a divorce. However, it didn’t sound like anything good to her.

“What’s a divorce?” she asked.

Amelia looked at her daughter’s petite face and explained, “A divorce means that I’ll no longer have anything to do with him from now on, and we’re no longer family.”

Evelyn sat stunned for a moment, blinking a few times. “So… Will I no longer be family with Dad in the future?”

“Yes.”
