Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 176

Chapter 176

It was better to just get the pain over with rather than prolong her agony.

Meanwhile, Winona and Jasper found out that Amelia and Christopher had signed the papers and were planning to meet at the clerk’s office tomorrow to register their divorce.

Winona immediately booked a private room in a restaurant.

“After your visit to the clerk’s office tomorrow, let’s celebrate! You’re finally out of misery! But why did he suddenly come round to it and agree to the divorce?”

She knew that Amlie was planning to raise a divorce petition and was prepared to fight a long legal battle over it.

Amelia stood in the corridor and explained everything to Winona.

“Damn it!” Winona felt suffocated with anger. “Is he insane? How dare he so blatantly protect that homewrecker!”

Jasper’s face turned cold and dark.

Even after six years of marriage, they couldn’t have an amicable split. Christopher was still trying to restrict Amelia’s freedom after the divorce. He didn’t even want to give her a clean break.

“Are you just going to bear with it?” Winona hissed.

She was shaking with anger, wishing she could go up to Nicole and Christopher and hack them to pieces.

“I can’t take it lying down! Why must you agree to his request for a divorce?” Winona demanded.

“If you agreed, he’d be able to go everywhere legitimately with that witch! You were clearly the one who asked for a divorce first. He’s the one who hurt you, and now he’s shifting the blame. How dare he ask for a divorce! Who does he think he is?!

“If I were you, I’d tell him I’ll never agree to the divorce!

“Let that darling woman of his forever be a homewrecker who can’t see the light of day! Drag things out and see who’s the first to concede defeat. You aren’t the one who had an affair and is anxious to get a divorce!”

Amelia quietly listened to every word Winona spat.

She looked at the busy traffic on the roads outside the hospital.

She was fully prepared to ask for a divorce when she flung the divorce petition papers in Christopher’s face.

Yet, he ended up being the first to ask for a divorce, all because Amelia had slapped Nicole.

Winona was right. They were the ones who brought Evelyn out, and she ended up injured. Nicole was standing there making sarcastic remarks, even suggesting she take care of Amelia’s daughter.

Slapping Nicola was completely justifiable.

How could Christopher be so biased in thinking that Amelia was at fault and then ask her for a divorce?

Then again, love was often illogical.

He loved Nicole and would always unconditionally take her side.

Even if Amelia died, he would never spare her a glance. Her past life was a testament to that.

Amelia tightened her grip on her phone.

She didn’t have what it takes to pit herself against Christopher and the Zephyrs right now.

Putting aside the emotional factors, divorce was her desired end outcome and what she had been asking for.

Yet, Christopher was giving her a hard time because of Nicole, making so many demands of her even while finally agreeing to the divorce.

Amelia just wanted to stand

for herself once.

She was someone who had already died once.

Yet, she couldn’t even do whatever she pleased from now on and had to put up with his unfair treatment and

suffer in silence.

Did she have a choice?

She didn’t.

She was forever at the mercy of fate.

Amelia lowered her head and said, “Winona, let’s not be impulsive now.”

She had gotten a taste of what Christopher was capable of. His investment in her mom’s company was an example.

She would never fall into the same trap twice.

At the very least, things were going in the direction she wanted.

Amelia was able to remain optimistic and swiftly arrive at the best decision despite the heavy feeling in her

heart.

Winona and Jasper, on the other hand, weren’t as quick to accept the situation as she was.

Yet, no matter how furious and indignant they felt about the situation, there was nothing they could do about it.
