The post came accompanied by a photo.

Christopher sat right in the middle, his head lowered, a glass in his hand. The look on his face wasn’t clear in the dim lighting.

He looked cold and distant as usual, his face hardly revealing what he was truly feeling. No one could tell what was on his mind.

Amelia had never been able to see through him, even after sharing the same bed with him for six years.

He should be glad that they finally registered their divorce.

“Bah! Disgusting!” Winona spat. “What are they celebrating? That the third party finally became the main wife after all those years? Shameless through and through!”

Jasper put his phone aside and looked tentatively at Amelia.

“You two…” he asked, “Mia, do you only want Evelyn?”

Winona turned her attention to Amelia. “Yeah. Nathan is your son, too.”

Amelia’s fists clenched, an inexplicable emotion spreading in her heart. Anger and hatred coursed through her veins, threatening to spill over.

“Yeah, he prefers his dad,” she said softly.

No one knew that Nathan was not her biological child, and that he was in fact Nicole’s son.

Only she, Nicole, and Christopher knew the truth.

Amelia sometimes wondered if this was a scheme the two had hatched to make her raise their son for nothing so that Nicole could further her studies overseas.

Upon Nicole’s return, Christopher would be ready to support her and stand next to her as both her family life and career thrived.

The divorce agreement he drew up included a term that required her to keep Nathan’s birth identity a secret.

If Amelia exposed the truth, Nathan would become an illegitimate son.

Winona looked at Amelia with a pained expression. “That’s fine. Since he likes that son of his so much, you’ll do fine with just Evelyn by your side.”

When Amelia and the gang headed to the private room they booked in a bar, they walked past another private room with its doors wide open.

“Ms. Sinclair! Are you guys here for drinks, too?”

They turned around and saw Nicole smiling at them with a glass in hand.

“Want to join us? It’s just the three of you, anyway.”

“No need. We’re here for drinks, not to sample tea. We don’t want to be grouted out,” Winona said with a smile plastered on her face.

The smile on Nicole’s face froze, but she remained polite. “I won’t bother you three, then

She walked straight into the private room and to the seat right next to Christopher

Winona burst out laughing as she looked at Nicole’s retreating figure. “What a match made in heaven! Trash and a garbage collector. Perfect!”

She pulled Amelia into their own private room.

This was a rare chance of relaxation for them.

It had been a while since Amelia came out for drinks. She ended up drinking more than she usually did.

Winona looked at her and warned, “Mia, you can let your hair down a little, but you shouldn’t drink too much. You might end up feeling terrible.”

Jasper said, “It’s fine. She rarely gets to relax like this.”

“I’m fine, really. You two don’t need to look so guarded,” Amelia said with a smile.

Winona inhaled sharply and slammed her glass on the table.

“I really want to go to the private room next door and beat them all up!”

Meanwhile, next door, Luke left the noisy private room to call Caleb.

“Christopher has registered his divorce! He’ll bring the divorce certificate to us 30 days later, and we’ll have a celebration.”

Caleb was stunned to hear the sudden turn of events.

“Didn’t you say that Amelia’s been dragging her feet and saying no to the divorce?” Caleb asked. “Why did she say yes so readily this time?”

“Yeah,” Luke said pensively, “It’s quite surprising. Maybe she found her next target.”

Jasper was quite nice to her. The Langley family was quite high in status, too.

But what made her think that the Langleys would allow a divorcee with a kid in tow to marry into their family?

“Did she ask for custody of the children?” Caleb asked.
