Chapter 180
Luke stuck a hand in his pocket.
“Just Evelyn. Maybe she feels she won’t be able to get Nathan. At least she knows her place well enough not to bring it up.”
“She didn’t bring it up?” Caleb said with pursed lips. “She’s pretty set on severing the relationship, huh?”
“Yeah. Nathan’s her biological son, and she abandoned him just like that. How cold–blooded of her!”
Silence ensued on their end.
A while later, Caleb suggested, “Perhaps she wanted the divorce a long time ago.”
Luke laughed.
“How could that be? Didn’t I tell you that she went to great lengths to marry Chris? She might just be playing hard to get. You never know what she’s up to till the very final moment.”
He then asked belatedly, “Why are you taking that woman’s side, anyway? Just come over quickly.”
“I have some work to do. I won’t be joining you guys today,” Caleb said.
Back in the room, Christopher’s phone rang.
He put his glass down and looked at the notification on his phone screen.
It was from the hospital.
He was the one who admitted Evelyn to the hospital.
The hospital had just sent her medical report to him. He clicked it open and quickly browsed through it.
Nicole saw him staring at his phone and leaned in close. “What are you looking at, Chris?”
He put his phone away and picked up his glass again. “Just scrolling.”
“Don’t drink so much,” Nicole lifted a hand to stop him from raising his glass. “Although you’re happy that the divorce is finally registered, the wound on your arm opened up again when you jumped into the water to save Evelyn. It’s still not fully recovered yet. You have to let it rest.

Christopher looked at her silently before chuckling. He naturally put the glass in his hand without another word.
“You’re so concerned for Chris, I’m sure you’ll be a very strict wife,” Luke teased. “I’ve never seen Chris so obedient to anyone before.”
Nicole smiled. “His arm is still injured. He knows what’s good for him.”
After about three rounds of drinks, Amelia felt rather stuffy in the room.
She went to the corridor for some fresh air and also to fetch some snacks. When she passed a corner, someone suddenly pulled her into his embrace.
The man’s aura overwhelmed her, and in her panic, she lost her breath. She tried hard to shove the man away,

but he was way too strong for her.
He rested his chin on her forehead.
“Darling, don’t move. Let me hug you for a while…”
His voice was hoarse, and his breath reeked of alcohol.
Every word that came from his mouth made Amelia’s body shake. She was furious and disgusted at the same time.
“Christopher,” Amelia bit out. “I’m not Nicole.”
At her words, he released her, as though confirming her guess.
Amelia seized the chance to shove him away. She raised a hand and slapped him hard.
Christopher’s head tilted to one side, his tongue in his cheek. He looked back at Amelia, staring hard at her with his deep, dark eyes that seemed to have a veil over them.
He was clearly drunk.
Even so, he had never been slapped by another person. His face was icy and intimidating.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment.
Amelia smirked. “Can you see clearly now? Please show some self–respect, Mr. Zephyr, and don’t mistake me for someone else anymore.”
