Amelia felt a chill all over her body when she returned to her room.
“What’s the matter? You look so upset after going to fetch some snacks,” Winona asked as she looked at Amelia.
Amelia took a seat and said, “I bumped into a troublemaker outside.”
They immediately understood who she saw outside.
Winona scoffed. “How unlucky! Let’s drink to ward off evil!”
The drinks session ended early. It was only just past nine in the evening when Amelia reached home.
She switched her laptop on to continue working.
She was leading two major projects, one of which was with the government, while the other involved cutting- edge research.
However, the moment her laptop was switched on, her phone rang.
It was a call from Christopher.
Amelia hung up without a hitch in her expression.
Christopher, on the other hand, refused to give up and called again after she hung up on him.
Amelia’s face fell.
At a time like this…
She couldn’t blacklist him just yet. They had to arrange to meet at the clerk’s office to confirm their divorce after the 30-day cooling-off period.
So, she picked up her phone and shut it off.
The next day, Amelia woke up early in the morning and headed to Nova Nine.
She was scheduled for fieldwork today and had to do technical maintenance.
Amelia’s projects were all progressing very well. Mr. Hale placed a lot of importance on them too, occasionally checking in on progress.
All Amelia’s attention had been placed on work lately.
She and Jasper left their client’s office after the technical maintenance was done.
Just then, Jasper’s phone rang. His footsteps halted as he looked at the incoming caller with furrowed brows.
“Who’s calling? You look so glum.”
“Caleb.”
Amelia found it odd. “What is he calling you for?”

Jasper hung up and stuffed his phone in his pocket. “He probably received the latest news and wants to discuss collaboration.”
They had signed a contract with Navitech and officially became partners. Their project with the government was being executed at this moment, too.
It wasn’t strange for someone like Caleb to hear the news in advance.
Still, Jasper was surprised that Caleb would still want to collaborate with them after they parted on bad terms at the press conference, where he had rejected them.
“Why aren’t you answering his call?” Amelia said with a smile.
Jasper explained, “Alchemax blacklisted Nova Nine after the press conference.”
He remembered exactly how proud Caleb had been and how he had treated Amelia.
Amelia wasn’t someone to pester others, especially after being snubbed.
“Yeah,” Amelia said. “Alchemax isn’t our best choice.”
Many partners had been calling to ask to cooperate with them.
If this project succeeded, there would probably be more people coming to strike a partnership with them.
Amelia’s focus lay in research, so she usually handed such matters to Jasper instead.
They had arranged to meet Mr. Hale for lunch and discuss the project.
Jasper drove to Nightingale’s Mist.
The moment Amelia got out of the car, she saw Christopher and Nicole walking over as well.
Nightingale’s Mist was a private kitchen and a popular hotspot for people of high society.
Amelia retracted her gaze when she saw them. “We can go elsewhere next time. I’m sure Nightingale’s Mist isn’t the only decent restaurant in Northon.”
Jasper paused for a moment before looking in the direction she had just now.
“What a bummer,” he said with a frown. “Let’s head in first.”
When they were done ordering in their private room, Mr. Hale arrived. There was a delay in some projects in the institute.
“Sorry that I came late.”
“We came early,” Amelia said with a smile.
Mr. Hale looked at her. “When did you learn such pleasantries from? From Jasper?”
“Not at all.”
“Professor Hale, is that how you see me?” Jasper asked as he handed him the menu. “Have a look and see what you’d like for lunch today.”
