Amelia’s academic qualifications were lacklustre, and she lacked working experience since she had always been nothing but a housewife.
Pumping in resources her way would only be a waste.
“Seems like she really wants to invest herself in this industry. What a flight of fancy!” Luke snorted.
She was completely overestimating herself, clearly ignorant of how high the bar was in this industry and how difficult it was to craft an academic paper in this field.
Amelia probably didn’t even understand theses that were already written.
“Don’t say that. What if Ms. Sinclair actually has something else in mind instead of joining the industry?” Nicole said with a smile. “Of course, she might just be having lunch with Mr. Hale.”
“Who knows?” Luke gestured with a smile.
Nicole glanced at Christopher and said with pursed lips, “About the industry, I did require a mentor when I first returned, but my meetings with Mr. Hale never went well.”
“It’s fine,” Christopher comforted her as he lit up a cigarette. He flicked the ash away, the tone in his voice imperceptible.
“True gold doesn’t fear the test of fire,” he said to Nicole. “There’s a government-led industry summit held next week. Come with me for it.”
Nicole looked down, a small smile on her face.
See? She still held the most important position in his heart.
“Given your academic qualifications and abilities, finding a mentor for you in the country will be easy as pie, Nicole,” Luke praised.
It wasn’t easy being a top student in the STEM field.
A female student was even rarer!
Nicole was indeed an outstanding figure in the industry.
In fact, she was probably more outstanding than Jasper back then. With Christopher’s backing and support, her career was bound to thrive.
Nicole broke into a smile. “Alright now. Stop it with the bootlicking.”
Christopher put out his cigarette, the look in his eyes cold.
“Nova Nine has been clinching many deals recently. They’re also liaising with the government on a project, and they just met with Mr. Hale. What’s the reason behind all this?”
That was all he had to say.
Realization immediately dawned upon Luke.

“Jasper is Mr. Hale’s student, after all. Does Mr. Hale have a hand in this project?”
Mr. Hale might be giving the industry his last shot before his retirement.
“So Nova Nine has a high chance of clinching the government tender this time?” Nicole said with a frown.
Everyone knew about Mr. Hale’s competence and abilities.
“Perhaps.”
Their guess wasn’t far from the truth.
Nicole’s face fell.
Meanwhile, after Amelia got into the car, Mr. Hale looked at her. “Still not divorced yet?”
It was like the sword of Damocles hanging over her head, and certainly a source of discomfort.
Back then, her decision to give up on her studies and pursue marriage had angered Mr. Hale.
Yet now, his heart was aching when he saw her go down the route of divorce. Someone with such a bright future had wasted all her time in her marriage.
Given her talent, she could have been a strong pillar of society.
Marriage wasn’t for her.
“We’ve registered for divorce, and the certificate will be issued in about one month,” Amelia said with pursed lips.
“What bad taste!” Mr. Hale remarked. “You might have been blind when you were young, just don’t make the same mistake again. Do the project with the government well.”
He turned to Jasper.
“Will the project be under Mia’s name?”
“Of course,” Jasper answered as he drove on.
As the lead of the project, Amelia was very hands-on in every aspect of the project. There was no reason not to credit the project to her.
It would be a good chance for those who looked down on her to see who the real clown really was.
Mr. Hale clearly had the intention of giving Amelia a chance to hold her head up high.
