Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 186

Chapter 186

Nigel’s only conclusion was that Amelia was prideful and pretending to be all that.

If she really had any dignity, she should have just left the marriage without a single cent instead of coming here to sign a property transfer agreement.

At the end of the day, she wanted money while pretending to be righteous.

“Come to the office to wait for Mr. Zephyr, then. I’ll inform him that you’re here,” Nigel said.

He led Amelia to Christopher’s office.

In the past, it was a place Amelia could only dream of. She wasn’t allowed in here, even when she was working as Christopher’s assistant.

The office was very sparsely furnished.

However, many items that seemed to belong to a woman were there. These items also seemed rather gender- neutral, clashing with the overall style of the office.

Amelia could tell that they belonged to a woman. Their gender-neutral style made it clear to her that they belonged to Nicole.

It was obvious to Amelia that Nicole frequently entered this office. There hardly seemed to be any boundaries between her and Christopher.

Amelia settled down on the couch.

“I’m sorry, you can’t sit there. It’s specially reserved for Ms. Randall,” Nigel said with a smile.

Amelia fell silent, suddenly feeling sick to the stomach.

“Sit here,” Nigel said, pointing somewhere else.

Nigel left after Amelia settled down.

This time round, she didn’t have to wait long.

Christopher soon came over. He pushed the door open, wearing a black suit, looking cool and calm as usual.

Christopher asked, “Did you wait long?”

“Let’s just cut to the chase,” Amelia said coldly, not wanting to exchange any formalities or pleasantries with

him.

Christopher smirked, but didn’t say anything more. He called his lawyer into the room.

The lawyer joined them and went straight to business. He presented Amelia with the contract that he drew up.

Amelia quickly flipped through it. After confirming that all was in place, she signed in.

Having gone through all the proceedings, the lawyer left the room. The two of them were left in the office once

more.

Amelia stood up, ready to leave.

“Wait,” Christopher called out to her.

Amelia was running out of patience with him. She turned back with a frown.

Christopher could sense her impatience with him. He stared at her for a few seconds before chuckling.

He walked to the lounge area and brought out a bag.

“It’s for Evelyn.”

Amelia stared at the bag, which looked rather heavy.

“No need,” she rejected him coldly.

It was too late for him to fulfil his fatherly obligations now.

“Grandma wants to give this to Evelyn,” Christopher said. “If you don’t want to take it, call Grandma and tell her yourself.”

Amelia frowned. She took the bag from him and found it rather heavy.

“Help me thank Grandma.”

“Sure,” Christopher said to her. “Where are you headed? I’ll send you there.”

Amelia glanced at him. “I’ve made it clear that since we’re divorced, there’s no need to keep up appearances and act so pretentiously.”

He was so cold to her while they were married, it made his efforts to pretend to care right now feel disgusting and pretentious.

Amelia turned to leave at once. She didn’t have much time to waste with him. All the more she wasn’t interested in knowing if he genuinely cared.

In the past, she had wanted to spend every minute with him. Yet now, every second with him made her skin

crawl.

After Amelia left the office, Nigel pursed his lips.

“Ms. Sinclair feels completely different now…”

Christopher looked at her retreating back and retracted his gaze. He arched a brow at his secretary’s words.

“Is that so?”

His voice sounded cold and distant, as though he didn’t quite care.

“She used to behave so eagerly around you, but now… She feels so cold, it’s like she’s another person altogether. Is she trying to play hard to get with you?” Nigel added.
