Christopher turned his attention to the document on his desk and said flatly, “I’ve never noticed.”
Nigel pursed his lips but said nothing more.
Christopher’s response wasn’t surprising, to say the least. He had never cared about Amelia and naturally wouldn’t pay attention to how she had changed.
Nova Nine’s projects were going smoothly, but the execution required financing.
That meant the need for more partners, which was solved by the fact that many companies were knocking on their door, asking to strike up a partnership.
Even Caleb called to express interest in collaborating with them.
Financing, however, came with risks. Although it could address their shortage of funds right now and accelerate the execution of the projects, excessive equity financing would mean a loss of control over the company, while excessive debt financing may result in a debt crisis as well.
As such, Amelia and Jasper tried to steer away from excessive financing.
However, Nova Nine was considered a new company. Much of its industry supply chain was still immature, and independent production was still something it hadn’t attained.
They planned to seek investors to complete their production line or acquire a company with outstanding production capabilities.
There was a government-led industry summit right around the corner, and Nova Nine was invited to it. That was a good chance to seek a production company.
As the technical lead, Amelia naturally attended the summit with Jasper.
She made sure to be fully prepared before attending the summit.
If she could successfully find a manufacturer to support their operations, it would be naturally good news for them.
Amelia was in the middle of testing the system when her phone rang.
She looked at the screen, only to see an unfamiliar number.
Amelia said softly, “Hello?”
“Mom, are you really not coming home?” Nathan’s voice sounded through the phone.
Amelia furrowed her brows. She had blacklisted Nathan’s number and certainly didn’t expect him to call her with another number.
“You got the wrong number.”
With that, she hung up at once and blacklisted the number as well.

Nathan had been at home recently and started missing Amelia’s cooking. He hadn’t tasted it in a long while.
After Amelia hung up, Nathan sat stunned. When he tried calling her again, he found that the call was unable to go through.
After having both his numbers blacklisted by Amelia, he ran to the study, sobbing hard.
“Dad, why does she keep blacklisting me?”
He sounded extremely displeased and wanted his dad to stand up for him.
Christopher looked up from a pile of documents. “Why are you looking for her?”
Nathan explained, “I want to eat the food she cooks. Dad, you said she’ll come back of her own accord, but why isn’t she back after so long?”
Christopher said, “You can tell your mom to cook for you instead.”
A smile stretched across Nathan’s face at Christopher’s suggestion. He leapt into Christopher’s arms.
“Dad, you really want to marry my mom, don’t you? We should live together as a family of three…”
Christopher chuckled at his son’s words and rubbed his head affectionately, saying nothing more.
Nathan was already looking forward to the three of them living happily ever after.
Monday came along, the day of the government-led industry summit. It was a large-scale event, and many big shots of the industry were present.
At about eight in the morning, Christopher and Nicole appeared at the event.
Nicole was dressed in haute couture that drew the attention of many people.
“Is that Nicole Randall?” someone asked. “She’s so beautiful!”
“Yeah, any woman who can stand next to Mr. Zephyr is bound to be extraordinary in looks. Most importantly, she’s very competent. Someone as important as Mr. Zephyr is such a perfect match with a strong, independent woman like Ms. Randall.”
Luke and Caleb were there early, too. They approached Christopher and Nicole when they spotted them.
“Why are you here so late?”
