Chapter 193
Since the day at the turf club, Nathan started leading his classmates in ostracizing Evelyn.
He wanted to take revenge for Nicole.
“I wanted to snatch my homework back, and he hit me first. That’s why I hit him back,” Evelyn said softly.
She managed to explain everything that had happened coherently.
Amelia’s heart clenched as she cupped her daughter’s cheeks in her palms.
“Evie, you did the right thing.” Then she asked tenderly, “Was that why you weren’t willing to go to school these few days? Because of Nathan?”
Evelyn didn’t want to make it too obvious, but Amelia had noticed the change in Evelyn, although she didn’t know the reason why.
Evelyn’s fists clenched tight. “It’s because…because he told all our friends in class not to play with me. Whether it’s worksheet time or gym class, I’m always alone. They’d always cut my queue during lunchtime so I wouldn’t get to eat.”
Amelia’s heart broke.
“Why didn’t you tell me all this earlier?”
Evelyn pursed her lips. “I thought since I’d be graduating from kindergarten next year, I didn’t want to cause you trouble…”
Tears welled up in Amelia’s eyes. “You’ll never trouble me, Evie.”
Today, she was determined to stand up for her daughter.
Back at the office, Nicole and Christopher had arrived as Nathan’s parents.
Nicole’s face darkened with anger at how pitiful Nathan looked. “Chris, we mustn’t spare the kid who bullied Nathan!”
The teacher approached them, her attitude servile and extremely respectful. It was Mr. Zephyr she was speaking with, after all.
Nathan sniffed and leapt into Nicole’s arms.
“They bullied me! Evelyn was being unreasonable and even hit me,” Nathan said indignantly.
Christopher looked at Nathan, pulling him out of Nicole’s arms to check on his injuries. He exuded a cold air of dominance.
“Dad…” Nathan whined. “Evelyn bullied me.”
Christopher’s eyes turned cold. “If that’s really the case, I’ll seek justice for you.”
Nicole added, “Chris, Nathan has always been well-behaved. He wouldn’t stir up trouble for no reason.”

“Then let’s check the surveillance camera footage. If we can identify who’s in the wrong, he or she will be punished according to the school rules.”
A cold, hard voice of a woman came from outside the door.
Amelia walked in hand-in-hand with Evelyn.
Evelyn looked up and saw Nathan in Nicole’s arms. Nicole’s hand was in her dad’s, and he was comforting her.
The teacher paused for a moment before saying regretfully, “The conflict between them arose at a corner where the surveillance camera is faulty.”
That seemed too much of a coincidence.
Christopher’s gaze landed on Evelyn’s bandaged hand.
Amelia said darkly to Christopher, “My daughter is injured, and your son should apologize to her and make amends.”
Nicole furrowed her brows.
“Ms. Sinclair, how are you so sure that Nathan was the one who bullied your daughter? Do you have evidence?” she said coldly.
Seeing both women at daggers drawn, the teacher spoke up.
“They’re siblings. It’s normal for them to fight. Let’s just settle this as a family dispute. There’s no need to make a mountain out of a molehill between children.”
The teacher tried to smooth things over, hoping that the issue could be settled privately lest it become too troublesome for the school to handle.
“I disagree,” Amelia said, her tone hard.
“Chris, what do you think?” Nicole asked Christopher.
Just then, the man who had been silent all along turned his attention to Nathan and pulled him in front of Evelyn.
“Apologize to her,” he said, cold and succinct.
“Dad!” Nathan’s eyes widened with indignation. “It wasn’t my fault! She started it first. Why must I apologize to her?”
