Amelia wondered how a man could be so ruthless and heartless.

He was autocratic in giving her just two options.

She either chose to accept or reject his compensation, but either way, she would have to make a concession and let this matter go.

Amelia just wanted justice to be served. She wanted to stand up for Evelyn.

Christopher stood up and turned his attention to Evelyn. “Evie, will you forgive your brother?”

Amelia’s head buzzed. His voice sounded in her voice, crisp, cold, and piercing.

He was shifting his target to the greatest victim here.

Amelia looked at Evelyn and advised her, “Evie, answer from your heart.”

Evelyn lowered her head, her fists clenching. She bit her lip and remained silent for a long time.

Despite her youth, many thoughts filled her mind.

A long while later, she looked up and said, “Nathan has already apologized to me, so as long as he doesn’t do it again…

“Mom,” Evelyn said to Amelia, “I won’t suffer in silence from now on. If something like this happens again, I’ll

be brave.”

She didn’t want to put her mom in a difficult spot.

Her dad seemed bent on making her transfer to another school, which wasn’t an easy or straightforward matter. Her mom was already busy enough as it is. Each time, after fetching her home from kindergarten, her mom had to work till the wee hours of the morning.

Evelyn didn’t want to cause her mom more trouble.

She had always been good at hiding her true feelings. That was how she managed to last for so many years despite Christopher’s aloofness toward her in their marriage.

“Make Nathan openly reflect on his mistakes in school and apologize to Evelyn.”

She refused to give in regarding her daughter.

Christopher nodded.

“Yes, he should.” He looked leisurely at her. “Anything else?”

Given what he knew of Amelia now, she wouldn’t let things go just like this.

“Since you like to solve problems using money, I want compensation of 500 million dollars.”

Christopher stared at her, a smirk forming on his lips. “Quite a big appetite you have there. Did Nova Nine reject Nicole because of you?”

Amelia burst out laughing and looked straight into his eyes. “What? Trying to seek redress for her?”

So much time had passed since then, and he was still bearing a grudge over that?

Christopher stuck a hand in his pocket and made a decision.

“I’m fine with 500 million dollars as compensation, but let Nicole join the project Nova Nine is working with the government on.”
