Amelia wasn’t surprised by his request.

He was a businessman, and protecting his self-interests was an instinct for him.

She clenched her fists and bit out, “Let me think about it.”

Since this concerned Nova Nine’s partnership, Amelia couldn’t make the decision unilaterally. All the more, she couldn’t be acting on impulse for something so major.

Christopher retracted his gaze and said indifferently, “Give me your answer in a day.”.

He then turned to leave.

Evelyn didn’t quite understand what they were talking about, but she could certainly sense the atmosphere between them. She knew that the negotiation was going very well.

“Mom…” Evelyn said softly as she held Amelia’s hand. “Dad has already agreed to make Nathan apologize to me in front of everyone. I don’t feel unfairly treated.”

Amelia rubbed Evelyn’s head affectionately.

“Silly girl,” she sighed.

As they were leaving the kindergarten, Amelia bumped into Nicole, who was carrying Nathan out of the sickbay.

She looked at Amelia in disdain.

“Ms. Sinclair, please go back and have a good chat with Mr. Langley. You can’t decide on Nova Nine’s behalf, after all. With my involvement in the project, Nova Nine will soar to greater heights. You should thank your daughter that you managed to get your hands on such a handsome sum of money.

The smile on Nicole’s face was dripping with sarcasm.

Outside, the setting sun sent orange rays shining across the streets and onto Amelia’s face. Her shadow stretched far and wide, her silhouette looking strangely lonely in the evening light.

She smirked.

“I don’t know how shameless you can get, but you should thank another woman’s husband for spending tons of money just to get you into a team, instead of being sarcastic and mocking me here. I’m the one who decides whether you can join the team at Nova Nine, not him.”

So what if Nicole were a genius with double doctorates who only knew how to take the backdoor to get what she wanted?

Every word she spoke was sarcastic and biting.

Nicole had the cheek to call herself an independent woman of the new generation, yet she often took the backdoor and made use of another woman’s husband to achieve what she wanted.

Amelia didn’t care to fight with such an opponent.

He looked at Amelia amidst the lingering smoke, his eyes narrowing with an inexplicable emotion in them.

He might have overheard their entire conversation, but Amelia didn’t care.
