Chapter 198
Amelia took Evelyn’s hand and walked away.
Nicole was furious; for the first time, she was stumped by Amelia’s retort.
“Chris, I never knew Ms. Sinclair had such a sharp tongue,” she complained.
Christopher put out his cigarette and said, “Why bother provoking her? It’s not the first day you know her.”
Nicole found that to be true.
Amelia would argue her head off, even if she were in the wrong. She thought she was all that with Jasper’s favor, that she really had a say in Nova Nine.
Nicole didn’t get it fast enough before, but now, she understood.
A
Amelia had said all that just now out of agitation.
Her husband, whom she wasn’t yet officially divorced from, spent a ton of money on Nicole while ignoring her. Anyone in her shoes would be agitated.
Christopher didn’t love Amelia, anyway. That fact frustrated her, so she was just venting her frustration. 1
As Nicole came to this conclusion, a smile of satisfaction stretched across her red lips.
“The principle of concession of happiness. Oh well, I won’t hold it against her.”
When Amelia arrived home, she called Jasper and told him what had happened.
Jasper fell silent for a while, then analyzed the situation.
“He’s throwing money at us to help promote Nicole’s resume. Very few people in the industry know about this project, but he’s still trying to stuff her into the team at a time like this. Are you going to let him have his way?”
Amelia naturally knew what Christopher was up to.
“He told me to give him my response tomorrow. I think Cloudway Technologies is a good partner. Before I returned to Nova Nine, you worked with many companies under Infotech Group. There’s no need for you to cut ties with them because of our personal grudges.”
Amelia had always drawn a clear line between her professional and private relationships.
She needed to maximize Nova Nine’s benefits. Since Christopher was showering them with so many benefits, albeit on Nicole’s behalf, there was no reason for them to reject him.
“I know, but do you really want Nicole as part of the project team?” Jasper said with a frown.
Even he didn’t want to let someone irrelevant into such a core project team, not to mention Amelia.
Amelia chuckled. “So what if she joins the team?”
Jasper paused for a moment, confused by her words. It took him a while to understand what she meant, and

when he finally did, he nodded.
He changed the subject.
“The professor said that many people want to meet you.”
Amelia’s identity was not a secret from their superiors. She was a talent that the country was grooming, seen as a future pillar of the industry.
It was a pity that she gave up on her studies for marriage.
Now that she was back in the field once more, many big shots in the industry wanted to meet her. She just so happened to be in a unique position at the moment, involved in various military projects which were often confidential and couldn’t be made public.
As she was considered an important figure in the industry, she had to keep her identity confidential lest she encountered any dangers.
After the confidentiality period was up, she could return to the aerospace industry.
Amelia pursed her lips and gripped her phone tightly.
“I’ll talk to the professor later.”
Jasper nodded. “Sure. I have an appointment with someone from the government tomorrow. Want to join me?”
“Sure.”
It was never a bad thing to interact more with the government in their line. Since Jasper had a meeting set up, she would go for it.
The next day rolled by, but Amelia wasn’t in a rush to give Christopher her answer.
Instead, she headed to the government appointment during lunchtime. Jasper was still in a meeting, and she decided to go there early.
The appointment was with a particular Mr. Johnson.
When Amelia arrived at the private room, she saw Nicole, Christopher, and Luke seated inside.
Amelia’s brows furrowed.
This appointment…
Mr. Johnson wasn’t there yet. She checked again and confirmed that the location was this private room.
“Amelia?”
Luke smirked when he saw Amelia at the door.
“What’s going on? Still stalking your ex-husband after the divorce? Don’t tell me you’re regretting it already!”
