Chapter 200
At the next moment, Amelia realized that Nicole was quite near the kettle of boiling water as well.
She retracted her gaze, ignoring what just happened.
Amelia was indeed skilled in tea brewing.
Mr. Johnson sipped on the tea and praised her. “Great skills.”
Nicole put her teacup down and chimed in, “Ms. Sinclair, you really brew a great pot of tea. As expected, since you’ve once worked as an assistant. No wonder Mr. Langley recruited you into Nova Nine! Your tea brewing skills are top-notch.”
She was clearly mocking Amelia’s past status as an assistant.
“No wonder Chris made you his assistant, too. Even I want you as my assistant now,” Nicole added with a smile. “Nova Nine just recruited me as its chief designer. After I join the team, you’ll be my assistant. I’ll teach you some things on Chris’ account, okay?”
“Ms. Randall, perhaps you should just stick to the HR department’s arrangements for you,” Amelia retorted with a smirk.
As they sipped on the tea, Mr. Johnson went straight to the matter at hand regarding technological developments.
He had a great impression of Nicole.
“The younger generation will soon surpass the old. You’re the Sophia of the new generation. Joining the national scientific research team wouldn’t be a problem for you.”
Sophia had become a statement of praise in the technology field.
“Mr. Johnson, you’re too kind. Sophia’s a genius, I’ll have to work very hard to catch up with her.”
She was the cream of the crop in the industry.
If she hadn’t retired from the field, she would have become a very significant figure in the national scientific
research team.
Amelia sat there, quietly listening to them, as though they weren’t talking about her.
“I heard that you took part in the ISSDC competition too, Ms. Randall,” Mr. Johnson asked. “Did you see Sophia there?”
“No, I didn’t.” Nicole shook her head. “Given her special identity, she doesn’t show her face in public. However, I have no idea why she chose to participate in the competition this time. I thought she had retired from the field a long time ago.”
Sophia was aware of many confidential matters of the military. Publicizing her identity would make her the target of malicious attackers. Given the volatility of the international landscape, many were watching the country’s scientific researchers’ every move.
In today’s modern society, technological advancements were key to a country’s progress. Talents were

indispensable and rare to come by.
Mr. Johnson was naturally aware of these things. Sophia came from Institute 511, which refused to reveal any information about Sophia.
Since Sophia’s return at the last competition, many big shots started getting excited.
“It’s normal,” Mr. Johnson said pensively. “You’ll see her when the time comes.”
Mr. Johnson was very pleased with Nicole.
She had brought with her much know-how about the latest technology from overseas for the sake of benefiting the country. She flew back home immediately after she achieved some headway in her projects abroad.
Mr. Johnson pushed his glasses up his nose bridge and said happily, “Since Nova Nine is in a partnership with Infotech Group’s Cloudway Technologies, that makes us all friends.”
“If we all don’t have anything else after lunch, shall we go for a game of cards?” Luke suggested.
“I can’t join the game, but I can help strategize,” Mr. Johnson said with a smile.
“Apologies,” Amelia said, “but I don’t really know how to play.”
She knew that these people gambled and made wagers in their games. She didn’t want a part in that.
The meal was coming to a close. It was time for Amelia to make up an excuse to leave.
She already had a rough idea about the governmental support Mr. Johnson mentioned.
In all, Nova Nine and Cloudway Technologies’ joint project was bound to be a hit.
Cloudway Technologies was first-class in serving the military and was also the largest arms factory.
Partnering with Cloudway Technologies was akin to jumping past many stages and zooming straight to working with the government.
