Nicole turned to leave.

Christopher was efficient as usual.

Everyone gathered around excitedly as the takeaway boxes were distributed.

Amelia couldn’t ignore the commotion even if she tried.

Her colleagues started teasing her.

Nicole smiled sweetly at them. “Yes, this lunch is on Mr. Zephyr.”

Everyone exchanged knowing glances.

Christopher was well-versed in the ways of the world and was trying to help Nicole build connections on the first day of work. Even though he wasn’t with her, he was constantly thinking about and was concerned for her.

Nicole and her colleagues started bonding over lunch.

Nightingale’s Mist was a place where one wasn’t guaranteed a spot, even with money.

Everyone got to enjoy a meal from the place thanks to Nicole, and they were naturally grateful for the opportunity.

Winona stood by Amelia’s side and scoffed, “I’ve got to give it to your ex-husband for being truly sweet to his affair partner.”

She was right.

Amelia looked at her design drawing. “Where there’s love, there’s effort and heart.”

The most laughable thing was that Christopher had never shown her such thoughtfulness throughout their six years of marriage.

He never asked her how work was when she was at Infotech Group.

Christopher knew clearly that Amelia was at Nova Nine, yet he chose to show Nicole such preferential treatment in front of her, which only felt like a slap to her face.

Amelia retracted her gaze and stood up. She tidied up her drawings and placed them neatly in her drawer. Her mind was completely on work.

“Let’s have a meeting at two in the afternoon,” she announced.

Winona nodded, then turned her attention back to the food on the table. “Then this…”

“I’m not privileged enough to eat this.”

Amelia flung the entire box into the trash can. She went to the staff canteen with Winona instead.

During the afternoon meeting with the technology department, Amelia shared the progress and changes to the project.

Right before talking about the core aspects of the project, Amelia glanced at Nicole and said, “Assistant, please

leave the room.”

Nicole slowly stood up.

“I’m a member of the technology department, too. Am I not fit to listen in? Are you prejudiced against me or something? Please put aside your personal grievances and be professional,” she said blatantly.
