Chapter 208
Their accusations sounded exceptionally piercing to Amelia.
She couldn’t deny that Nicole’s academic qualifications and abilities were outstanding.
Nicole’s competence aside, Amelia had to see for herself that Nicole genuinely wanted to work here instead of trying to make a statement out of pride.
She wouldn’t stoop to making things difficult for Nicole over personal grievances.
“Alright,” Amelia said.
She flung her pen on the table and leaned back against her chair. Her eyes were calm. and
“Whoever doesn’t want to listen in can join Ms. Randall outside the meeting room,” she said to everyone in the
room.
She didn’t throw the pen hard, but the thud of the pen against the table landed heavily on everyone’s hearts.
The air of authority Amelia exuded spread across the meeting room.
Silence ensued.
No one wanted to risk their jobs for the sake of a new colleague. After all, everyone there had witnessed Amelia’s capabilities at work.
Although they found it unfair for the new colleague, they would rather stay out of trouble.
A few seconds later, Nicole chuckled.
“Fine,” she said with a derisive smile.
She shut her laptop and stood up, glaring at Amelia.
“Hope you remain in the position you don’t actually deserve.”
With that, she turned to leave.
She had never expected Amelia to have such authority in Nova Nine. She was just an undergraduate student, yet Jasper gave her such a high status in the company.
What gave Amelia the right to call for a meeting with a bunch of scholars with master’s degrees and PhDs?
What a joke!
Nicole was a proud woman. She had joined Nova Nine expecting to be in a senior position, so she naturally found it unjust to be one-upped by Amelia.
After Nicole left, Amelia continued with the meeting as though the minor interruption never occurred.
As Amelia calmly continued with the meeting, Nicole headed straight to Jasper’s office.
Upon seeing Nicole strut in, Jasper looked up from the document he was reading.

“What’s the matter?”
“I just think that there are some people in the technology department who are truly unprofessional. Mr. Langley, is it really wise of you to let such unprofessional people be part of the team?”
Nicole raised a genuine suggestion as she looked straight into Jasper’s eyes.
“Be it Zephyr Group or Infotech, the corporate culture and work attitude are nothing like that. If Nova Nine wants to see improvement, it should be stricter in filtering the people in its technology department. If everyone comes in through the backdoor, this company wouldn’t last long.”
Jasper capped his pen and asked calmly, “Who is this unprofessional person you’re talking about?”
“You should know the answer to that, Mr. Langley.”
Jasper looked down and chuckled derisively.
“Ms. Randall. If we don’t allow people to come in by the back door, would you stand a chance? In this company, you’re the only one who came in through the backdoor.”
He was already making things very clear to her.
Nicole’s face turned red with embarrassment. She didn’t expect Jasper to be so blinded as to defend Amelia to this extent.
“Mr. Langley, you should think twice before trusting others,” she said, her eyes turning dark. “I’m giving you these friendly reminders because I want Nova Nine to thrive.”
“Thank you,” Jasper said flatly, “I’ll think about what you said. If there’s nothing more, you may leave.”
Nicole found it laughable how Jasper was condoning Amelia’s behavior to such an outrageous extent.
After the meeting ended, Amelia handed the meeting minutes to Nicole and asked her to tidy them up. It included the meeting agenda and the progress of various projects.
Nicole flipped through the first two pages of the document Amelia handed to her and smirked.
Placing the document back on Amelia’s desk, Nicole looked at her and scoffed.
“I can tell that you completely lack professionalism in this aspect. You’re even more unprofessional in the way you handle your team and your projects.”
