In Christopher’s office, he received a call from Nova Nine’s HR department. The caller was brief and to the point in informing him about their decision.

At the same time, Nicole received a termination notice on her phone.

The tone was assertive and dominant, with seemingly no room for negotiation.

Christopher held his phone with one hand as he signed a document with another. His eyes dimmed at the news.

He put down his pen and handed the document to Nigel.

“Alright.”

Christopher’s response was succinct.

He should have been furious, since Nicole was someone he fought to join Nova Nine. Their firing of Nicole without any qualms seemed to be a slap in his face.

Yet, he looked so calm and unaffected by it.

Nicole looked solemnly at the termination notice on her phone. Nova Nine seemed to really put weight on Amelia’s words.

Luke pushed open the door to Christopher’s office and saw the dark looks on their faces.

“What’s the matter? Aren’t we about to go for dinner together? Why the long faces?” Luke asked.

“Nova Nine fired Nicole,” Christopher said.
