Chapter 210
“What?”
Luke was completely taken aback by the news. After a moment of silence, he knew what was going on without asking.
“Amelia must be behind this.”
Nicole’s face was dark with rage.
She had never expected Nova Nine to actually fire her. This was only her first day of work at Nova Nine, too!
She simply voiced her displeasure at the work arrangements at Nova Nine, believing that they made little use of her incredible talents.
“Nicole, there’s no need to be upset. It’s not your problem. Someone just has something against you. Jasper will regret his decision today,” Luke said.
“Firing you for Amelia’s sake is a horrible idea. There are plenty of opportunities in this industry for you to shine. Nova Nine isn’t your best choice, and you don’t need to get hung up over it. If Jasper is so unjust and prejudiced at work, Nova Nine won’t go far. With how narrow-minded their people are, there’s a limit to how far they can go.”
“Hmm…” Nicole hummed with furrowed brows.
The only thing she could do right now was to accept the conclusion.
She could only blame Nova Nine for placing more importance on personal connections and influence.
Amelia was backed by the largest shareholder in Nova Nine. Nicole didn’t lose to Amelia in terms of her abilities.
Her pride didn’t allow her to beg Nova Nine to take her back. Doing so was meaningless, anyway.
She would let Nova Nine know that losing her was a painful price to pay!
Nicole chuckled and put her phone aside, blocking out the outside world.
“Nova Nine is biased and prejudiced toward their talents. Staying there would only be a waste of a talent like me, ” she went on. “I don’t really care for Nova Nine. A company that cares more about personal connections than actual abilities wouldn’t go far. I didn’t intend on staying there for long, anyway. I was the one who resigned. They didn’t fire me.”
Christopher looked at her. “You really don’t care?”
“Not anymore,” Nicole said. “Chris, there’s no need for you to fight with Nova Nine for my sake. I don’t want to stay in a company with such a terrible work culture.”
Luke smiled.
Nicole was a proud woman who saw herself as a strong pillar of the country’s technology industry. She would never take the insult from Nova Nine lying down.
She had always been lofty in aspirations. Losing her was Nova Nine’s loss.

After the meal, Nicole received a call that turned her face ashen. At the same time, Christopher received a call from Dorothy.
Christopher paused for a moment, looking deeply at Nicole.
He retracted his gaze and said into the phone, “I got it.”
After work, Amelia went to sign the sale and purchase contract for her house.
She had finally sold it.
After some thought, she finally decided to call Christopher about it. She would also tell him to move out of the house as soon as he could, since someone had bought it.
Christopher was silent for a long time.
Amelia furrowed her brows and was about to talk when he beat her to it.
“Did you notice the name of the buyer?”
Amelia’s mind drew a blank. She quickly retrieved the e-contract in her laptop and zoomed in to take a closer look at the name.
Christopher’s name was written clearly on it.
Amelia’s heart sank as realization dawned upon her.
It felt like a huge joke to her.
What was the meaning of this?
Upon knowing that she drove out Nicole and Nathan, he immediately purchased the house. Was he trying to humiliate her?
“We’ll meet at the marital home to sign the contract,” Christopher said.
So was he going to ask her to come to their marital home, then chase her out of it as revenge for Nicole?
Amelia fell silent.
Christopher seemed to know what was on her mind.
“I’ve been bogged down by work recently. It’ll help if you make a trip down,” he clarified. “I’m not so petty as to chase you out of the marital home.”
