Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 211

Chapter 211

“Aside from signing the contract, I also have something to discuss with you.’

After hanging up, Amelia took a deep breath.

Despite her reluctance, she called for a cab and headed straight to the marital home.

Christopher was the buyer of the house after all, and he paid double the price for it.

Amelia would never be at odds with money, especially after receiving zero enquiries after listing the house for sale for so long.

When she knocked on it, Anna came to the door.

Nathan was sitting in the living room playing with his toys. His face fell upon seeing Amelia at the door.

“I told you this is my home,” he scoffed as he looked down to continue playing with his toys, pretending she

was invisible.

“You’re here?” Christopher looked down at her from upstairs.

He was wearing lounge wear, looking languid yet lavish.

“Come to my study. The contract is all drawn up, and the money will be transferred to your account once we sign the contract.”

There didn’t seem to be much emotion in his eyes as he spoke.

Amelia headed straight to his study and saw the contract lying on the table.

Christopher sat on the leather couch and crossed his legs. Glancing at the contract, he urged her, “Take a look.”

Amelia looked down at the contract and flipped through it.

She found the scene before her laughable.

The house was just transferred to her name, and now, she was transferring it back to Christopher.

He was just helping to get the house back for Nicole and Nathan.

She looked through the contract and signed it without any hesitation.

Christopher looked at her signing the contract, and asked, “Did Nicole offend you at work?”

He asked it so casually, as though he was just making small talk.

Yet, she could sense the interrogation in his words.

“This is the decision from the higher-ups who decided to fire her. You’re barking up the wrong tree by interrogating me,” Amelia said.

She put the pen down and stood up.

“Why don’t you ask her what she did at Nova Nine?”

Christopher stared at her for a few seconds, but didn’t reply. He put the contract aside and turned to her.

“Mr. Randall, Nicole’s grandfather, just passed away.”

Amelia stood stunned for a moment.

“I’ll pick you up from your apartment the day after tomorrow. We’ll attend his funeral together.”

The Randalls and the Zephyrs were long-time family friends. That was why Nicole and Christopher were childhood sweethearts who grew up together.

Nicole’s family wasn’t strictly considered one of the wealthiest families in town, but they were certainly well- off.

Their family only suffered a reversal in its fortune after the passing of Nicole’s father.

Now that even her grandfather had passed away, Nicole was the only surviving descendant of the Randall family.

It was only right for them to attend the funeral.

Amelia wanted to turn Christopher down, and he knew what her silence meant.

The corner of his lips lifted in a smile. “Shall I remind you of the terms of our divorce agreement?”

If she didn’t attend the funeral with him, he wouldn’t be able to explain things to the Zephyrs.

“Grandma called to remind me to bring you along to the funeral.”

Everyone in high society knew about their relationship. It was inexcusable for Mrs. Zephyr to be absent from an event like this.

Amelia clenched her fists.

She just needed to wait till the cooling-off period was over for their divorce to be official. That would be when she would be completely free.

“Got it. I’ll go there myself.”

“I’ll fetch you there,” he said emphatically, exuding an air of authority.

He would never change his mind after making a decision.

It didn’t make sense for the husband and wife to go to the event separately.

Amelia refused to accept his decision just like that. “I’ll go for it, but I’ll decide how I arrive.”

Christopher stared at her for a few seconds before chuckling.

“Don’t let your emotions affect the way you do things. You flared up at Nicole and fired her. Now, you’re acting all strange because of her, too. What in the world did she do to offend you?” 2

Amelia smirked. “Is my answer really that important to you?”
