“Mr. Johnson called today.”
Amelia arched her brow. “What did he say? Does he want to work with us?”
“Yes, but he wants Infotech and Cloudway Technologies involved. Some pending matters also need to be addressed before he signs the contract.”
Government officials would lead the collaboration with various major enterprises.
Nova Nine was favored by higher authorities who wanted them to work with major companies. The backing of a major company would allow fresh blood and ideas into the team, bringing stability to the entire project.
In other words, it was pertinent for them to work with Infotech Group.
That was the only possible outcome if they wanted to participate in this project with the government.
Amelia put the document down and asked Jasper, “Did you say yes?”
“Not yet,” Jasper said. “I was worried that you might have concerns.”
Amelia fell silent.
She looked out the window. The weather was bright and sunny just seconds ago. Now, she could see dark clouds brewing a distance away, warning of an impending storm.
She exhaled out loud and retracted her gaze with a chuckle.
“We don’t have a choice.”
She might be disgusted by the prospect of working with Infotech Group, but they were indeed their best choice. Government officials wouldn’t make a mistake in their judgment call.
It was just…
Too many grudges were between them.
Amelia didn’t want to pit herself against them. She simply wanted to treat them as strangers.
“Jasper, I’m not that petty. We’re getting a divorce. We’ll be issued the certificate once the cooling-off period is over. I’m over the marriage, honestly.”
In her opinion, they were just a springboard to success for her.
Jasper put his coffee cup down and sighed, his eyes turning dark.
“If only you didn’t need to keep your identity a secret…”
Amelia shook her head. “What’s past is past. I’m a new person now.”
Jasper fell silent as he looked at the calm and collected expression on Amelia’s face. Her features were sharp and vivid, yet she exuded a cold elegance and kept others at a distance.
Her past achievements were employed by the country’s military. To date, no one had been able to surpass them.

Had Amelia continued to invest her time in this industry, she would have become a member of the nation’s key scientific research project team.
Her accomplishments were something that others may not even come close to throughout their entire lives, yet Amelia was ready to let go of them just like that.
If it weren’t for the confidential clause she was obligated to fulfil, she would have been able to bring Nova Nine to greater heights right after she got divorced.
If those people knew that Sophia was in Nova Nine, big shots from all over the country would fight tooth and nail just to work with Nova Nine.
“That’s some impressive attitude right there,” Jasper said, in awe of her tenacity and determination. “Get some rest. You’re taking a break tomorrow, right?”
“Yeah.”
The funeral was tomorrow.

When it was time to knock off work, a storm broke out. It poured until the next day, bringing temperatures down drastically.
Nigel knocked on the door of Amelia’s apartment early that morning. He was carrying a shopping bag.
“Mr. Zephyr wants you to get changed into this. He’s waiting for you in the car downstairs.”
It was something appropriate for the funeral.
Christopher wasn’t being thoughtful. He was just worried that Amelia might appear in something inappropriate and embarrass him.
Amelia said nothing more and took the bag from Nigel before shutting the door.
It was a black dress with a white flower embroidered on the chest.
Amelia looked at her reflection in the mirror, her face dark.
Christopher held the Randalls in high regard simply because he held Nicole in high regard.
When Amelia went downstairs, it was still drizzling, and the sky was gloomy.
Christopher’s car was humming quietly in the rain.
Amelia forgot to bring her umbrella down.
She didn’t think the man in the car would be kind enough to escort her to the car with an umbrella, so she turned around to head upstairs again.
Beep!
The car horn blared, urging her to come quickly.
