Chapter 215
“Our family is small in numbers, so please pardon us for the poor hospitality,” Tania said. “With Mr. Zephyr gone, the Randalls…”
She sniffed, looking morose.
“Please excuse me.”
Dorothy and Mr. Zephyr shared an amicable relationship.
The Randalls family was indeed small in number, with few people in the younger generation.
In fact, Nicole’s grandfather didn’t leave behind any grandsons. Most of the guests at the funeral were his old friends.
Lucia looked at Christopher and reminded him, “Chris, you grew up with Nicole. She’s your childhood friend. Do help her out more.”
With that, she headed into the house.
Everyone was reminding him to help Nicole. No one cared about Amelia’s opinion about that.
Stephanie glanced at Amelia, who was standing up straight with a cold face.
She scoffed. Amelia might look calm on the outside, but she was probably boiling on the inside.
It was clear as day that, aside from Mrs. Zephyr, everyone was trying to pair Nicole and Christopher together.
Christopher clearly knew that would be the case at today’s event, yet he insisted on bringing Amelia to it.
It made the current Mrs. Zephyr look like nothing but a joke. Yet, Amelia was still pretending to be cool and collected. Who would believe her facade?
After taking a seat, Amelia looked on as Christopher helped Nicole receive and take care of her guests.
He looked just like the son-in-law of the Randall family.
Amelia retracted her gaze and sipped on her tea.
Christopher’s heart was probably breaking from the sight of how haggard and tired Nicole looked.
Stephanie looked at Amelia, a smile hanging on her lips. She heard about Christopher attending Amelia’s maternal grandmother’s third death anniversary just to keep up appearances.
She was rather impressed with Amelia’s ability to keep calm and not flare up.
The stark contrast made Christopher’s presence at Amelia’s maternal grandmother’s third death anniversary completely laughable.
Would Amelia not notice the huge difference?
Christopher’s attitude right now and at Amelia’s maternal grandmother’s death anniversary were worlds apart.
Stephanie looked at how composed Amelia was and said, “An incompetent woman will never win her husband’s

heart. You might be the legally wedded wife, but that’s only in name and not in substance.”
Stephanie sipped on her tea as she made those biting remarks.
Funerals were also a matter of status and influence in high society. She wanted to see for herself how long Amelia could keep up appearances.
“Nicole is very outstanding,” Lucia chimed in. “It’ll be a blessing for the Zephyrs if I could have a daughter-in- law like her.”
With Christopher as her only son, everyone knew what her words meant.
She completely disregarded Amelia’s pride and dignity.
Lucia clarified, “I was just joking. What I meant was that I should have had another son back then.”
Stephanie looked at Amelia expectantly, as though she was waiting for the punchline of a joke.
Amelia was attending the funeral in her status as Mrs. Zephyr.
But who was the real Mrs. Zephyr? Who knew? 1
Only a few close relatives knew.
Stephanie surmised that most people present at the funeral thought that Nicole was Mrs. Zephyr.
Christopher was busy entertaining and taking care of the guests at the funeral today, as though he were the son- in-law of the Randall family.
Amelia felt just like a clown seated there.
Would that brother of hers not know all these?
He clearly brought Amelia here to crack his whip. He wanted her to give up her position as Mrs. Zephyr of her own accord.
How could Amelia be shameless enough to continue sitting here? If Stephanie were Amelia, she wouldn’t have
the cheek to even be here.
Stephanie looked doubtfully at Amelia. “My son misses your cooking. Come back with us to Whitmore Manor after the funeral and prepare our breakfast and lunch tomorrow.”
It wasn’t a question, but more of an instruction and command.
Amelia looked up, about to say something, when Dorothy beat her to it.
“Amelia is a treasure of the Zephyr family. Who dares to make her do such menial tasks? She married into our family to enjoy a good life, not to serve you.”
“Mom,” Lucia interrupted with an arched brow, “she is here to enjoy a good life. Putting aside the matter of serving one another, her cooking is truly excellent. We should have the chance to enjoy it. She’s a junior, and it’s only right for her to serve her seniors.”
Amelia stood up.
