Chapter 240
They returned to the meeting room after making their decision.
They would sign the bet.
Mr. Johnson was shocked by their eventual decision.
“Mr. Langley, a bet-on agreement is no joke. You must think twice. Don’t sign it out of spite and end up losing everything you have,” he reminded them in hushed tones.
Many people signed bet-on agreements, thinking that luck and destiny would be on their side. Yet, all of them ended up losing everything they owned.
“Even if Mr. Zephyr lost the bet, investing one billion a year in Nova Nine for the next five years would still be peanuts to him. But if you lose, you’d lose control over Nova Nine. All your efforts building the company up would go down the drain.”

Mr. Johnson knew Jasper’s father, so he felt the need to warn Jasper about the bet-on agreement.
Jasper nodded in appreciation. “Thank you for the reminder, Mr. Johnson. We’ve made up our minds.”
Christopher instructed Nigel to inform the legal department to draw up the agreement.
Mr. Johnson knew there was nothing much he could say to make them change their minds.
The partnership was already inked. How they decided to run the show from here on depended on how these companies wanted to work together.
Amelia sat silently where she was. She didn’t fear the bet-on agreement at all.
Nicole, on the other hand, looked on darkly. Since they dared to sign the bet-on agreement, it meant that she had lost the right to lead the project.
She gripped the contract tight as her heart fell.
This was supposed to be her first major project after her return!
Since they dared to sign, they would have to be prepared to lose everything in the time to come.
Infotech’s legal department was very efficient. Very soon, a lawyer came rushing to the office with the agreement in hand.
Both parties signed the bet-on agreement with the government officials as witnesses.
Amelia pushed the agreement to Christopher after signing it. “Mr. Zephyr, please.”
Christopher looked calmly at her. “I’m not the one signing this agreement with you. Nicole will sign it with you on Megatech’s behalf.”
The bet-on agreement was meant to decide who would be the project lead, since both of them were in charge of the technical aspect of the project.
However, Christopher would bear all of Megatech’s losses.

Amelia said flatly, “That’s fine.”
It didn’t matter who signed the agreement.
As long as they won the bet, they would get their hands on one billion every year for the next five years.
That was, assuming Infotech Group kept its word.
Christopher picked up a pen from the table wordlessly, uncapped it, and handed it to Nicole.
Nicole paused for a moment as she stared at the pen.
Christopher said softly, “Don’t worry. I’ll cover for you.”
His voice, calm and steady, made Nicole feel much better.
Jasper looked hesitantly at Nicole.
“Are you thinking of beating a hasty retreat after fighting tooth and nail for the right to lead the project? Ms. Randall, if you want to withdraw from this, it’s fine not to sign this agreement.”
Nicole chuckled.
Why would she not dare to sign this agreement? Christopher had promised he would cover all the losses.
She would lose nothing in their entire fiasco.
After both parties signed the agreement, they were about to hand the agreement back to the lawyer when Amelia suddenly pressed the document down on the table.
“I need another clause added. Whether Megatech remains under Infotech Group, as long as Megatech loses the bet, Infotech Group will have to cover the one billion per year for the next five years.”
Snares were everywhere in the business world.
If Megatech got cut off from Infotech Group, the promised amount of money would certainly go down the drain.
Christopher looked deeply at Amelia.
Luke’s eyes narrowed. This woman was getting smart when it came to her own benefits and interests.
Christopher said flatly, “I’ve already had it prepared.”
With a wave of his hand, his lawyer came walking over with another supplementary contract in hand.
