Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 242

Chapter 242

Christopher remained silent. Nicole had no idea when he arrived there and how much of their conversation he

had heard.

Nicole stood stunned for a moment before recovering.

“Chris,” she greeted.

The emotions in his eyes were imperceptible: “What’s the matter?”

He was behaving normally and seemed to have missed their conversation just now.

But even if he overheard it, so what?

There was nothing wrong with what they said.

Nicole pursed her lips and took a deep breath. “Ms. Sinclair has Nova Nine backing her up, and she’s as stubborn as a mule. We can’t afford to provoke her.”

Christopher stuck a hand in his pocket and tilted his head with a slight smile. “Why provoke her in the first place?”

Nicole’s breath caught in her lungs.

She seemed to notice something in the depths of his eyes.

He was right. Given Amelia’s state right now, she wasn’t even worthy of being their opponent.

“Let’s go,” Christopher urged.

Nicole smiled joyfully.

She had thought that Christopher was here because he needed the washroom. To her pleasant surprise, he was here to pick her up.

Both of them walked out into the hall.

Nicole said, “I have confidence in the project with Nova Nine. But with the bet-on agreement signed…”

She paused hesitantly.

“Is it too risky leaving the project in their hands?”

If she were still the project lead, she could have earned herself more money and broken even within a year.

Christopher strode forward as he said softly, “The fact that they dared to sign the bet-on agreement shows that they might just have what it takes to succeed. Why worry?”

He glanced at Nicole.

“Just wait to receive the dividends.”

Nicole clenched her fists. “I’m just worried they’re feigning more than their abilities. What’s more, Ms. Sinclair probably isn’t that capable and will have to rely on Mr. Langley.”

“The cooperation is for mutual benefits,” Christopher said plainly.

That was true. In a collaboration, no matter who took the lead, everyone had a share of the dividends.

Nicole had just lost the right to lead the project. What she should do right now was focus on writing her thesis

well.

Mr. Hale thought that she was fawning over foreign powers and looked down on her overseas academic qualifications.

How difficult was it to secure local academic qualifications?

She could simply skip getting the postgraduate degree and jump straight to earning a local doctoral degree.

At the basement car park, Amelia pulled the door open and got in the car, mentally preparing herself to say something to Jasper.

At the next moment, someone knocked on the car window.

It was Nigel.

Amelia wound down the window and asked coldly, “Do you have something for us?”

Nigel was never a bearer of good news.

He ignored Amelia’s cold attitude and relayed the news.

“Mr. Langley, Ms. Sinclair, it’s a happy thing that we managed to sign the contract today. Mr. Zephyr wants to treat everyone to a meal at Nightingale’s Mist.”

Instead of giving them a call, Christopher had asked his secretary to invite them in person.

It seemed rude of them to turn Christopher down.

However, there wasn’t a need for them to care about Christopher’s feelings.

Amelia rejected him straight up. “No need. Go ahead without us.”

Nigel stood where he was.

Amelia looked back at him in confusion.

“Mr. Zephyr said that Megatech and Cloudway Technologies are both under Infotech. The personnel under the companies can take the chance to get to know each other for the sake of future cooperation. Staff from the technology department of both companies will be there. It’ll be hard to explain things if you two aren’t there.”

Amelia furrowed her brows. Communication between the partners was essential in the work ahead.

She turned to look at Jasper, who said, “If you don’t want to go for it, I can send you home first before going for it alone.”
