Chapter 243
Jasper knew what Amelia was feeling right now.
They were just fighting for the right to lead the project a minute ago, forcing the other to sign a bet-on agreement. Things were certainly not amicable between them.
Amelia didn’t answer him. Instead, she turned to say to Nigel, “What time is it? We’ll be there.”
“Six in the evening tonight.”
After Nigel left, Amelia exhaled sharply.
Jasper held the steering wheel with one hand and said darkly, “They made things so nasty with that bet-on agreement, and now they’re treating us to a meal? Who do they think they are?”
Was Christopher trying to act magnanimous? It was as though the project belonged to them!
Whether they went for the treat or not, Amelia and Jasper felt disgusted.
Christopher was too much in every sense of the word.
“You two were once husband and wife, after all. He’s so…”
He was so merciless and completely disregarded their past affections and relationship.
Amelia found Jasper’s words ironic.
Christopher probably never saw her as his wife. She was probably nothing but a nanny to him, one whom he could sleep with.
She shrugged. “We’ll have to cross paths with them eventually.”
After this project, Nova Nine would find itself on a new stage, with the ability to decide on its partners after it got listed.
This government-led project was too large for them to handle unilaterally. The tender document itself weighed
a ton.
“You can skip if you don’t want to be there,” Jasper reminded her.
But Amelia said with a smile, “I just agreed to Nigel’s request. Did I say I’d be there?”
Jasper was stunned for a moment.
They were up to their ears in work right now, while Nigel made it clear just now that he wouldn’t leave until they said yes.
Amelia simply agreed to him verbally.
Meanwhile, Nigel was just doing as he was told.
“Who did you learn that from?”
Amelia tilted her head. “Does that matter?”

And so, they drove back to Nova Nine’s office.
The moment they arrived, they contacted the manufacturer. The model and system computations were done. All they needed to do next was to complete the actual product.
They spent the entire afternoon tidying up the project documents.
Although they had struck up a partnership with Cloudway Technologies, which was a top-notch arms manufacturer, there were some new materials that they had to source by making a trip themselves.
Neither Navitech nor Alechemax supplied those materials.
It was a challenge indeed.
Jasper crossed his arms before his chest and stared at the model on his computer.
“These materials are rare, and only overseas companies carry them. However, there’s one local company that might carry it in its range. Let’s meet them for a chat.”
Their supplies usually came from their pre-existing suppliers.
Amelia wasn’t sure if they could secure this company as a supplier.
However, Jasper knew someone from the company.
He lifted his hand and glanced at his watch. “Contact the company and prepare the necessary documents. We’ll go over to their office for a meeting.”
Amelia nodded.
The moment Jasper left to make a call, Amelia’s phone rang.
It was Christopher calling.
She answered it and heard his voice on the phone. “When are you arriving?”
Amelia could envision that cold, hard look on his face.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Zephyr. Something cropped up at the last minute, and we can’t come.”
Amelia spoke politely, and Christopher could find nothing wrong with her words.
Christopher furrowed his brows. Before he could say anything further, Amelia had hung up.
Upon seeing Christopher put his phone down, Luke asked, “Are they coming?”
