Chapter 25
“Then please properly teach your son, Mr. Zephyr, Ms. Randall. If he lays a hand on Evie again, I will make sure the school punishes him.”
They were attending an elite kindergarten, a place where every child came from a wealthy or noble family.
“If Nate keeps acting this way, other parents will see him as a threat and worry about their children’s safety. You know exactly how the school handles children like this,” Amelia said coldly.
With that, she took Evelyn’s hand and left.
Christopher had remained expressionless the entire time.
Nicole glanced at him and sighed. “Women are such a headache. They hold grudges over the smallest things. I swear I haven’t done anything to your wife, have I? Don’t tell me you’re going to throw your buddy under the bus for a woman like other men.”
Christopher’s face stayed icy. “Ignore her.”
The parent-teacher meeting began, and all the parents sat on the school playground, facing the stage.
The stage was set with all kinds of competition equipment, and a large electronic screen stood prominently at
the back.
A teacher, Christine Smith, stepped onto the stage.
“Today, we’ve invited everyone to the parent-teacher meeting because the city is hosting a math competition. One of our classes was randomly selected to participate, so neither the students nor parents were notified in
advance.
“The first-place winner will receive a special prize.
“Now, may the selected Pre-K children get ready. You will go on stage in ten minutes.”
Evelyn and Nathan were both in Pre-K.
Nathan hadn’t expected a competition today.
Lately, he had been running around with Nicole, barely keeping up with his studies. But in the Pre-K class, he had always been first.
This sudden competition didn’t faze him in the slightest.
“Daddy, Mommy, watch me win the special prize for you!”
He was brimming with confidence. He had participated in math competitions like this many times before, and had always done well.
After all, he had been raised as the eldest son of the Zephyr family, expected to excel in every subject.
Nicole ruffled his hair. “I taught you some quick math tricks a few days ago. Remember to use them. Be fast and

accurate.”
Nathan nodded firmly. “Got it!”
With Nicole’s mental math tips memorized, he was certain he could succeed. His results would be even better than before. He was determined to win the special prize in front of the whole school.
Meanwhile, Amelia looked at Evelyn and sald gently, “Don’t be nervous. On the competition floor, friendship comes first, competition second. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose. If it doesn’t work out this time, there will be another chance.”
Evelyn nodded obediently. “Okay!”
“Mommy, I went over your competition prep at the hotel,” Evelyn said, reciting Amelia’s original notes almost word for word. She stumbled only on the characters she didn’t recognize, then added, “But I don’t understand the principle…”
Amelia was stunned.
Her competition notes were full of complex math symbols that Evelyn couldn’t read, so she gestured with her hands instead. Amelia knew her daughter had always had a sharp memory, but she hadn’t expected it to be this remarkable.
It was nearly photographic memory.
In the past, because Evelyn had always been so obedient, Amelia hadn’t worried much about her and never
noticed such a remarkable talent.
She should have started teaching Evelyn more characters long ago!
There were only ten minutes left before she went on stage.
Amelia wanted to confirm her suspicion, so she pulled out her phone and showed Evelyn the multiplication and
division tables.
“Mommy, I already know this,” Evelyn said.
Amelia paused, surprised. She didn’t know when Evelyn had learned it.
Then, she went on to teach Evelyn some arithmetic shortcuts.
