“Was that Nicole?” Jasper guessed from the look on Amelia’s face.

“Yeah,” Amelia answered him as she kept her phone away. She explained sardonically, “She called to gloat about her two new partners and asked us to join their celebration dinner tonight.”

Jasper chuckled. “She might be capable enough to snatch them away, but it’s another thing to maintain the partnership over the long term.”

She was so eager to gloat about it, as though it were a huge accomplishment.

Amelia chuckled back. “We’ll see about that.”

Meanwhile, Luke asked Nicole eagerly, “Well?”

“They’re not coming.”

Luke sipped on his wine and crossed his legs as he swirled the red wine in the glass. It was as he had expected.

“Naturally. Why would she have the cheek to come? Since she’s incompetent, those potential partners naturally

wouldn’t choose to work with her.”

Amelia probably knew of her own incompetence and didn’t want to embarrass herself by coming.

He turned to Christopher.

“Thankfully, you’re getting a divorce, Chris. Having a wife like that is utterly embarrassing.

“Both are technology companies, but why is Megatech able to secure so many projects consecutively? They’re leading the core of the project, for goodness’ sake! And yet, they can’t even do something as basic as clinching a

deal.

“Shouldn’t we consider the possibility that the overall person-in-charge is incompetent?”

Luke analyzed the consequences of the situation.

“What if they end up being a scam and everything they say turns out to be a hoax?”

Nicole’s face turned dark as she pondered Luke’s words. She shook her head and said, “They’re probably not scammers, just dragged down by someone.”

Jasper’s skills were well-known in the industry. Nova Nine’s accomplishments couldn’t just be a mere facade.

Otherwise, they couldn’t have grown to the scale they were oday.

She pursed her lips and looked at Christopher, seated next to her.

“Chris, what do you think? Does Nova Nine really have what it takes to do the project well? They can’t even secure a raw material supplier now, and production is stalled. That affects our project progress, too. If we end up being unable to deliver…”
