Chapter 257
“However, Eos X7 was a confidential project, and exposing he engineer’s identity might bring trouble.”
Jasper was the best in Institute 511. He had established Nova Nine, which was thriving right now.
Nicole had the same thought.
If that were really the case, Jasper was truly someone they had to win to their side.
Amelia stayed in the workshop till night, until Winona went to Cloudway Technologies, looking for Amelia.
Her face was stormy.
“What’s the matter?” Amelia asked.
She started getting anxious at the solemn look on Winona’s face.
“I went to the kindergarten to pick Evelyn up. The teacher told me she was hurt in the afternoon, and her father picked her up instead,” Winona said.
Amelia’s heart fell with a thud and started racing with anxiety.
She immediately pulled her phone out and saw multiple missed calls from the kindergarten teacher.
Since she didn’t answer her calls, the teacher naturally called Christopher.
She also received a missed call from Christopher. She immediately called him back.
Amelia walked out the door. The moment the call went through, she asked anxiously, “Where is Evie? How is she?
“Done with work?” His voice came deep and strong. “She’s fine. She’s in our room.”
Amelia walked faster. “I’ll head over to pick her up right now.”
“What’s the rush?” Christopher looked at his work documents on his study desk. “She’s very safe here. Go be busy if you have work to settle.”
Amelia would never believe him.
After hanging up, she handed over the rest of her work to her colleagues and quickly hailed a cab to their marital home.
His eyes were shut, looking as though he were asleep. The dark eye circles under his eyes told of the fatigue he was feeling.
Amelia ignored him and headed upstairs, where Evelyn’s room was.
When she opened the door, she saw her daughter lying quietly on the bed, fast asleep and looking peaceful. Amelia quietly and gently checked her body and saw abrasions on Evelyn’s knees and elbows, which made it look like she had just had a fall. They had been treated, too.
Upon confirming that Evelyn was really fine, Amelia finally felt relieved. She sat by the bedside, her body and nerves instantly relaxing.
When Amelia noticed that the windows were ajar, she stood up to close them. There was a table right before the windows, and she had to tiptoe to grab the window handle.
Just then, Christopher walked upstairs and saw Amelia trying to shut the windows.
She was on tiptoes; her calf muscles were tight, accentuating her excellent proportions. Her arm was lifted high, and her shirt rose, revealing her slender waist.
Christopher approached her.
When Amelia finally managed to shut the windows, she turned around and bumped into Christopher’s chest.
