Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 259

Chapter 259

News of Nova Nine signing an agreement with a major company in central Northon spread like wildfire throughout the industry.

Many people started extending olive branches in Nova Nines way.

They had received dozens of companies this morning, and their office was bustling with people.

They barely had a break during noon.

Jasper fanned himself. “I almost became a professional receptionist.”

Amelia looked down and continued working on her design draft. “It’s a good thing. You should feel happy that you’re exhausted.”

He looked at the drawing she was working on. “Getting started on Institute 511’s project already?”

He was in awe of Amelia’s drive and level of motivation. She spent all her time and energy at work.

“Yeah. I wanted to get a head start so I’d have some buffer for amendments if any problems arise.”

Work was awaiting her, and she wanted to do as much as she could with whatever little time she had.

Jasper stared at her in silence for a few seconds. “Are you short of cash?”

Amelia’s hand paused in mid-air.

She looked up at him, her eyes twinkling with laughter. “What makes you say that?”

Since she signed the divorce agreement with Christopher, she had received a house, cash, and various work assignments.

She was soon becoming a rich woman. Why would she lack money?

Her mother’s company was doing well recently, although they weren’t considered wealthy, and she often had to help out.

Given her uncle’s condition right now, he needed an organ transplant and was waiting for a suitable donor.

Money wasn’t a problem. A suitable donor was.

“People work so hard because they need money, while you…” Jasper said with an arched brow.

“Everyone is responsible for defending and protecting their country,” Amelia said flatly, not even bothering to look up at him.

This was a field she was passionate about.

Luke couldn’t stand how lucky Amelia was. How could a woman as fake and two-faced as her work in the research field?

What a joke!

“She’s just observing and not doing anything. She’s just taking up space in the workshop.”

Jasper put down his spoon and said, “I find this canteen quite noisy. I keep hearing a dog barking.”

Amelia couldn’t hold back her laughter. “What sharp ears you have.”

Luke’s face turned dark with displeasure. “Jasper Langley, what do you mean by that?”

He approached Jasper.

Toning himself down, he said, “Don’t give up on everything for the sake of a woman. Work with us, and you’ll last longer in this field. Some people will only drag you down.

“With such impressive scientific research achievements, it’s really a pity for you to give up on your career for love. I heard that the last female student Mr. Hale took in was so obsessed with romance, she’s now spending all her time washing dishes and cooking as a housewife.”

Luke went on, “You’re Mr. Hale’s student, too. You should know better than I do how his ex-student is doing right now. Do you really want to end up like her?”
