Chapter 260
“Nova Nine might be doing well right now, with so many companies fighting to work with you, but that might not last long.”
Jasper looked straight into Luke’s eyes and smirked. “Giver your experience in this field, you should know what it means when we eventually complete this project.”
It was bound to be a major milestone.
Nicole stood up.
“Records are meant to be shattered. No one will remain number one forever.” She looked at Amelia. “Especially if the number one spot has nothing whatsoever to do with somebody.”
Everyone knew that credit goes to Jasper and the team at Nova Nine for the success of this project.
Amelia was just parachuted in mid-way and was only responsible for doing odd jobs. She was just riding on their coattails.
Nicole crossed her arms before her chest.
“Having worked in Nova Nine for a day and experienced its culture, you don’t seem very convincing as a superior to your subordinates, Ms. Sinclair. Your subordinates don’t look happy submitting to you.”
“Is that so?” Amelia put her spoon down and looked up at Nicole. “That’s none of your business, really. All you can do is to look on enviously.”
Nicole was stumped by Amelia’s comeback. Amelia was mocking her for being unable to even step into Nova Nine! Nicole’s assistant ran in, announcing with a solemn look, “Bad news!”
Nicole remained calm despite the panic on her assistant’s face. “What bad news? Calm down and tell me about it. I told you to mind your image in the office and always keep calm and steady.”
Luke asked with furrowed brows, “What happened?”
The assistant hesitated.
“Speak,” Nicole said with a frown, clearly running out of patience.
“After we signed an agreement with Mr. Lewis and he kick started production, problems started arising…”
Nicole and Luke’s faces both turned dark.
“What do you mean by that?”
Nicole hurried out of the canteen, and Luke followed suit to better understand what had happened.
Amelia smiled to herself and continued with her meal.
Jasper retracted his gaze after Nicole and Luke anxiously di appeared into the distance.
Nicole was too anxious to cut off all of Nova Nine’s resources and partners.
After having her first partner snatched from her, Amelia deliberately raised the price with Mr. Lewis as a trap for Nicole. She never actually intended to seal the deal with him.
Since Nicole wanted it so badly, she would give it to her. However, she made sure Nicole paid the price for her deeds.
Nothing came free in this world.
Now that Nicole had kick-started production and purchased the materials at such a high price, they were looking at losses in the hundreds of millions.
They had just shot themselves in their foot.
Trouble now came knocking at their door.
“We’ll have some peace and quiet for a while,” Amelia said with a smile.
Nicole had completely jumped into the trap she had laid.
Jasper finally realized what Amelia had done.
