Chapter 262
Amelia smirked sardonically and retracted her gaze.
There wasn’t much for her to say to them. They couldn’t exactly blame her for a partnership they struck up with someone else.
She turned around and walked toward her car, waiting for Jasper to come out.
Nicole explained everything that happened to Christopher.
She looked down and covered her face. Taking a deep breath, she looked up and combed her fingers through her hair and said, “I’m fine, it’s nothing major. I can deal with it.”
Christopher looked deeply at her and remained silent for a few seconds before saying, “No need to put up a strong front. Call me if you need help.”
Nicole lowered her head. She knew that Christopher cared for her.
But…
“I can handle it.”
She could handle a loss of a hundred million.
She didn’t want to rely on a man to solve her problems. She believed Christopher wouldn’t like such a weak and vulnerable woman like that, either.
Amelia sat in the car, looking at some figures on her phone.
She didn’t care about Nicole and Christopher’s conversation
When someone knocked on the car window, she jumped in fright.
Amelia put her phone aside.
She turned to look out of the window and saw the cold look on Christopher’s face, his deep, dark eyes looking right into her.
She wound down her window and looked at him through narrowed eyes.
“If you’re here to question me about Nicole’s partnership,’s really not necessary. I just have four words for her: she had it coming.”
Nicole had to bear the consequences of snatching someone else’s partner.
Christopher fell silent, staring at Amelia with those deep, dark eyes of his, like an abyss.
Amelia had never figured out the look in those eyes. Then again, he never allowed others to see through him.
At his silence, Amelia arched a brow.
Amelia checked her calendar and made a mental note that the cooling-off period for the divorce was finally coming to an end the day after tomorrow.
She turned to look at Christopher. “The cooling-off period is coming to a close. Do you need me to call you to remind you about it?”
“Just contact Nigel. Don’t keep calling me for no reason,” he said rather indifferently.
Scorn flashed past Amelia.
He was making it sound as though she loved calling him and couldn’t wait till they officially cut ties the day after tomorrow.
Amelia drove over to receive the new materials with Nicole in the car.
Nicole didn’t look very pleased. She had fully understood what was going on in the company.
She turned to look at Amelia, who was focused on the road ahead with a cool expression.
“Leave Jasper as soon as possible. If you still have a conscience, don’t drag him down like this. Don’t be too shameless,” she said icily.
“You won’t go far just by relying on men. We all know what you’re capable of, and leaving now will save you some dignity. Don’t stick around shamelessly and end up embarrassing yourself to death. By then, even a genie wouldn’t be able to come to your rescue.”
Amelia seemed bent on clinging to the bigwig Jasper for life
