Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 267

Chapter 267

They had agreed to meet at nine in the morning, the earliest slot possible.

A while after Amelia sat down, she saw a car parked outside the clerk’s office. The car door opened, and out came Christopher.

A few other couples arrived at the same time, a myriad of expressions on their faces. Some were clearly displeased with each other.

Conversely, Amelia and Christopher looked calm and indifferent.

Christopher looked at her and asked, “Did you wait for long?”

“I only just arrived.” Amelia looked at Christopher’s hand, which was still bandaged. “Will you have a problem signing your name with your left hand?”

Christopher gazed at Amelia’s face, an inexplicable look in his eyes. “What do you think?”

Amelia thought about it. Since he was here, it meant that leaving his signature was probably not an issue for him.

“Let’s go, then.”

With how calm and composed they looked, they were behaving like complete strangers.

They arrived at the registration counter with the relevant documents in hand.

The staff member received their documents and checked that everything was in place. She pushed a divorce agreement in their direction.

“If you two wish to confirm your divorce and have no wishes to rescind your divorce application, please sign your name,” she said in a business-like manner.

Her gaze landed on the two of them for a few seconds.

Having worked at the clerk’s office for so long, this was the most good-looking couple she had ever seen.

The man was handsome, while the woman was dazzling, her features exquisite and beautiful.

They were practically a match made in heaven.

Amelia took the divorce agreement and signed her name on it.

Christopher’s eyes turned dark when he saw how resolutely she signed.

Amelia then turned to look at Christopher after signing her name, but he didn’t move an inch.

She furrowed her brows.

What was the meaning of this? Was he regretting it?

“Why aren’t you signing it?” Amelia asked.

Christopher asked, “Do me a favor. Hold the paper down for me. I’m not used to signing my name with my left hand, and I’m afraid the paper might move as I sign it.”

Amelia didn’t turn him down. Finalizing their divorce was a priority right now.

She reached out to hold the paper down against the table.

The two of them were in close proximity to each other. Christopher’s body felt warm; Amelia could sense his body heat through the air around them, even though she wasn’t in direct contact with him.

She could sense his body warmth clearly, and it somehow made her feel uneasy.

Christopher looked on, unperturbed, as he picked up a pen with his left hand and signed on the paper. Even with his left hand, his strokes looked firm and strong, his pen a sharp weapon he wielded.

After Christopher signed his name, Amelia immediately released her hold and widened the distance between them.

Christopher turned to glance at her but said nothing.

The staff member verified their signatures and made sure that all was good before issuing them their divorce certificate.

Amelia stared at the staff member as she went through each step and eventually presented them with their divorce certificate.

The moment the certificate landed on the desk, Amalia could feel the impact inside her.

She could almost feel her heart thud inside her.

The huge weight on her chest was finally lifted.

The staff member presented them with their divorce certificate and announced, “Sir, madam. We’re done with all the proceedings.”

Amelia felt a heavy weight when she received the divorce certificate from the staff member.

She couldn’t help but recall the day they received their marriage certificate at the clerk’s office many years back.

At that time, she was excited about their future that was to come, and she had great expectations for her husband.

However, reality struck her cruelly in the face.

She had lost everything in this marriage.

Her gaze instinctively drifted toward Christopher as she stared at him.

His face was indifferent as usual, with barely any noticeable changes to it.

All their shared memories flashed past her mind like a black and white movie playing in her mind.

She realized she was silently bidding Christopher and their memories goodbye.

Christopher noticed her gaze on him and asked, “Is there something on my face?”

Amelia shook her head, chuckling.

Never again would she see the Mr. Zephyr who used to love her so much, yet eventually became a mistake, a blotch in her life. 2
