Chapter 270
The next morning, Amelia drove to work.
Both Jasper and Winona noticed her new ride.
“Compensation from Christopher?” Jasper asked as he eyed the new car.
Amelia nodded.
Winona’s eyes narrowed as she surveyed the car. Pursing her lips, she said, “Why did you choose this? You should have chosen something that cost over a million.”
She was a fool for not taking full advantage of the situation.
Amelia chuckled. “There’s no need for that. I don’t want to owe him, too.”
She didn’t like to take advantage of others, especially not Christopher. Now, they were officially over.
Jasper crossed his arms before his chest and looked pensively at the car.
Then he looked at Amelia and said with a frown, “I think this is a little fishy. Given his character, shouldn’t he be asking you for compensation instead?”
Indeed.
However, this situation was out of the ordinary.
Amelia shut the car door and said, “He compensated me for my car to show off their so-called brotherly love.”
Winona snorted. “Are they treating this as a game?
“I don’t see that miser giving you any jewelry or bags in the years you’ve been married.
“But now, Nicole struts everywhere with branded watches and bags, many of them limited edition to boot. I hardly ever see her wear a single accessory twice.
“I don’t believe the Randalls earn so much.”
Winona grew rather curious.
“Megatech lost so much with the contract she signed with Mr. Lewis. Can she bear the cost, or is Christopher covering for her?”
Amelia shrugged. “I don’t know.”
She didn’t care, either.
All of them headed upstairs.
“It’s probably not settled yet,” Jasper commented as they walked on.
Many things happened over these two days, and Nicole was still busy taking care of Christopher at the hospital.
Winona chuckled. “She’ll probably end up relying on that man’s help. Spineless, really.”
Amelia picked up where they last left off from the car accident and was done receiving all the new materials.
She also received a call from Dorothy.

“Mia, are you alright? I heard about the brakes of your car not working. Are you hurt?” Dorothy asked anxiously over the phone.
Amelia put down her pen and answered calmly, “I’m fine.”
Dorothy asked, “Where are you right now? I went to visit Christopher at the hospital just now and didn’t see you there. I didn’t see you at your marital home, either.”
Amelia sat stunned.
She was caught off guard by Dorothy’s call.
In fact, she was preparing to go to the factory to keep a close watch on the next phase of the project.
“I’m busy with work at the office.” Amelia then assured Dorothy, “Grandma, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”
“How can I rest assured? Chris told me that you didn’t even go for a checkup at the hospital. What if there are complications? Come over, and I’ll take you to the hospital. Only that will give me peace of mind.”
Amelia stared at the data before her and said distractedly, “I’m really fine, Grandma.”
That was akin to a rejection.
“How could work be more important than your health? You’re so busy with work all day, are you bent on destroying your health?” Dorothy sounded extremely displeased. “I understand that you youngsters are busy with work and face immense pressure, but there is a time for you to put your work down.”
Hearing those words sent Amelia back in time, when Dorothy would always nag at her.
She had long gotten used to it.
Amelia would always listen to Dorothy, but this time, she really couldn’t leave her work behind.
Dorothy wasn’t unreasonable, either. Since Amelia had the energy to work, she surmised that Amelia was probably fine.
“I’ll call for a medical team to be stationed at your place. Come back after work, and I’ll have them give you a checkup. Report to me tomorrow at Whitmore Manor. If I don’t see your checkup results, I won’t be able to sleep at night.”
Amelia felt helpless.
She knew that Dorothy was worried about her health.
However, making a trip to that house after work was very troublesome.
She massaged her temples, feeling a headache coming.
“Grandma, I’ll go for a checkup at a hospital myself and send you my checkup report. Please don’t go to the trouble of calling a medical team.”
