Chapter 28

Amelia’s lips curled into a cold, faint smirk as she tilted her head toward Christopher. “Handle the public relations.”

She looked at him, but he didn’t meet her eyes. He simply pulled out his phone to send a quick message to his

secretary.

The TV crew knew exactly who the Zephyr family was. They couldn’t afford to cross them. The moment the incident started, they had cut the live broadcast.

However, there was no way for the TV crew to predict what Lucia would say. By the time she spoke, the broadcast had already captured it.

Any clips that got out would inevitably be blown out of proportion and overanalyzed.

Yet the Zephyr Group’s influence was immense. For them, even something this small could be suppressed with a single command.

Amelia smiled mockingly.

That was how Christopher was. He was never one to see things clearly, nor did he care about how Evelyn or she

felt.

“Even if it had gone live, it’s just a family dispute.”

Lucia had made her point crystal clear. With capital and influence on her side, there was no way Amelia could gain the upper hand.

Lucia turned to Christine. “I said Nate is first. Do you have a problem with that?”

Christine bit her lip when faced with the formidable woman. “By the scores, Evelyn is indeed first. And she also won the first round of rapid-fire questions.”

Lucia’s expression tightened. “What about the second round?”

“Well…”

Amelia looked up calmly, fixing Lucia with a measured gaze. “Since you claim Nathan could also handle a first- grade paper, give him ten minutes and let him complete one. If he gets a perfect score, then he and Evie will share first place. If he can’t do it, it doesn’t matter. We can let him take first place. It’s a title without merit. If Nathan wants it, fine, let him have it.”

After all, it was obvious who really had the skill here. Power alone couldn’t protect a weak child forever.

At that moment, Evelyn stepped forward. “If Nate wants it, I’ll let him have it. It’s not the first time I’ve given in to him.”

Nathan’s face fell. “Who said I wanted you to give it up?!”

Lucia’s expression darkened as she looked at Christopher. “Chris, look at your wonderful wife! She schemed to marry you back then, and now look at what she’s made of Evie! Not a trace of the proper, refined lady you expected.”

gaze.

Lucia snorted. “I’ve yet to see you handle anything properly. I’ve already heard that Amelia and Evie haven’t been living at home for a long time.”

Lucia looked at Evelyn. “Do you really want to leave our family with your Mommy?”

She couldn’t believe a woman like Amelia would ever leave the Zephyr family.

After all, Amelia had schemed for years just to marry into the family. Now she thought that just because Evelyn was with her, the family would bend, that they couldn’t let their grandchild go, and would always allow her back.

But there was no way the Zephyr family could be controlled by a woman who didn’t understand anything. If Amelia were leaving, she would have to leave quickly and on her own, without causing any trouble.

The Zephyr family would never abandon a grandchild.

Lucia said, “Evie, come home with me. If you stay with your mommy, you’ll have nothing. You won’t even have a place to live.”

Evelyn gripped Amelia’s hand tightly and shook her head.

“Wherever Mommy is, that’s where I want to be. I don’t want to live at home, always bending over backward for my brother, either.”

Lucia laughed softly.

“Evie, you’re meant to be our little princess. Your brother is the heir to the family, and he’ll take care of you when you’re older. So, of course the resources will lean in his favor. If you go with your mommy now, you’ll live in poverty. Your mommy isn’t capable of taking care of you.”

Evelyn furrowed her brows, completely unmoved by her grandmother’s manipulation.

“Then why can’t I be the heir of the family? Am I not smarter and more capable than Nate? Why can’t I grow up and take care of him? Why don’t I even get a fair chance to compete?”
