Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 51

Chapter 51

Edmund admired Amelia’s humble, grounded nature.

“Alright. I’ll wait for you. If you run into any difficulties, don’t hesitate to tell me.”

Jasper saw that they were getting along well, so he stepped outside to take a call. He had just hung up when he ran into Nicole.

It wasn’t a coincidence. She had been waiting there for him.

“Something you need?” he asked.

Nicole studied him for a moment, then said, “You like Amelia?”

“Ms. Randall, that’s a rather direct question,” Jasper replied evenly.

“I just think… She’s a housewife. Bringing her to an event like this doesn’t seem right,” Nicole said. “You even refused to let me join Nova Nine for her sake.”

At the time, Nicole had been puzzled and assumed Jasper was testing her. True talent feared no trial. She had the skills and the experience, and joining a company like Nova Nine Technologies would have been effortless.

Now, looking back, it was clear. She had been deliberately targeted.

Jasper looked at her calmly. “And?”

“And I think you made a mistake, Mr. Langley,” she said.

Even now in their conversation, Jasper showed no sign of reconsidering her. His refusal had been deliberate, and it was because of Amelia.

He looked at her coolly, saying nothing. The hint to leave was clear.

Nicole couldn’t help but find the situation absurd. To her, being dismissed like this wasn’t an insult. She just thought Jasper was foolish.

Men really were visual creatures, easily blinded by beauty. Even someone like Jasper wasn’t immune. 1

Nicole let out a faint, amused smile. “Then I’ll just wish you success, Mr. Langley.”

Compared to Christopher, Jasper didn’t amount to much. If it weren’t for the fact that he was Alfred’s student, a company like Nova Nine Technologies wouldn’t even be worth her time.

By the time Jasper returned to the hall, Edmund had already gone to prepare for his lecture.

Amelia was walking toward the lecture, planning to listen in and take some notes.

When Jasper saw her coming out, he immediately said, “I didn’t expect Christopher to actually recommend Nicole. He’s already helping her build connections so quickly. Just a moment ago, she was arguing with me

outside.”

“She came to talk to you?”

“Yes. I turned her down. She wasn’t happy about it.”

“Isn’t that normal?” Amelia smiled at him. “And you’re upset?”

“You’re not angry, so why should I be?”

Amelia had already seen the truth clearly. “You could introduce me to Edmund, just as Christopher could. His network is even wider than yours. You can’t really compete with that. If you keep comparing, it’ll only drive you crazy.”

Christopher favored Nicole. In terms of resources, Jasper could never compete with him.

“Are you really that calm?” Jasper asked.

Amelia said, “Yeah. Worrying won’t help, and most people only care about results, especially in our industry. Here, a name or connections mean nothing. Only skill counts.”

She acknowledged Nicole’s talent. She couldn’t say that Christopher’s recommendation and networking efforts were meaningless. After all, Nicole was genuinely skilled.

That made Amelia even more determined to focus on herself.

“I’ll take that to heart,” Jasper said.

As Amelia moved to the front of the lecture hall, her phone rang.

The caller ID showed Christopher. She glanced in his direction. He was only a few seats away, his expression unreadable, cold as ever.

Amelia had a pretty good idea what this call was about.

It was a summons to answer for her actions. After all, Jasper had just embarrassed Nicole. And with Nicole’s temperament, it wasn’t surprising she had complained.

She answered the call.

Christopher’s tone was icy as usual. “Come over.”
