Amelia went to the restroom, washing her hands and using the facilities while she was at it.

Just as she finished, she overheard voices outside.

“Did you hear? Mr. Langley rejected Nicole for some woman.”

“Did you see what happened this morning? Nicole came to our company to meet Mr. Langley. She’s stunning, confident, and bold. She’s absolutely gorgeous! She’s a hot commodity in the industry, incredibly skilled, and a close friend of Mr. Zephyr. I just don’t get why Mr. Langley would do that.”

“Seriously. Mr. Langley turned down someone with Nicole’s credentials for a bachelor’s degree holder? It makes no sense!”

Another girl whispered, “What’s there not to understand? She probably got in through connections. Most of us at Nova Nine Technologies have at least a master’s degree. How could a rookie with no experience get in otherwise?”

Amelia listened to every word. Then, she opened the restroom door calmly and walked over to the sink to wash her hands.

The women who had been gossiping immediately fell silent.

Amelia said nothing and turned to leave the bathroom.

The voices of the women behind her softened a little. “She’s so beautiful.”

“Sure, she’s beautiful…but look at her. Could she be the new colleague Mr. Langley snuck in through connections?

“Probably. I heard she came to visit Nova Nine a while ago.”

Once everyone had gathered, Jasper stepped forward to introduce Amelia.

“Everyone, meet our new colleague, Amelia Sinclair. She’s in charge of project calculations, satellite orbits, and has involvement across multiple areas.”

“She’s just a college graduate with no prior experience in the field, and she’s doing all that? Mr. Langley, isn’t this a bit of an insult to the rest of us?” Josephine Chase said, not bothering to sugarcoat her words.

All of them had worked their way up slowly at Nova Nine Technologies, and every project they handled had been the result of their sweat and effort.

And now, someone who was nothing came in-who exactly was being humiliated here?

“She just has a bachelor’s degree. She’s not even qualified to be an assistant.”

A rookie with no industry experience would only slow everyone down.

Jasper spoke up. “She’s my junior. She designed the Eos X7, and she-”

Josephine scoffed and cut him off. “Mr. Langley, you actually made that up to get her in? The Eos X7 is a project of Institute 511. Do you really think we’re that easy to fool?”

She had always respected Jasper, but she never knew he was capable of something like this.

Nicole was an exceptional talent, someone anyone would fight to have. Yet, Jasper had turned her down. And now, he had brought in a complete novice. It was a direct insult to all of them and their professional abilities.
