Chapter 63
“A-Are you really just a bachelor’s degree holder?” Josephine frowned, suspicion flashing in her eyes. “Don’t tell me it’s a fake degree!”
Amelia set the mouse down and straightened her back, her voice calm and even. “I really do have a bachelor’s degree.”
The entire meeting room went silent, everyone exchanging stunned glances.
How could this be? A mere bachelor’s degree holder had just outshone all their top talents!
She had even outdone Jasper, who was Alfred’s top apprentice and one of the core engineers at Institute 511.
Selena couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a classic case of playing dumb to hide your strength.”
She glanced at Josephine. “Isn’t this the moment you owe our new colleague an apology?”
Josephine’s pride ran deep. She was highly skilled and had long been resentful that Jasper had refused Nicole’s attempt to bring Amelia in.
She had always looked down on Amelia.
But now, Amelia’s abilities far surpassed Nicole’s.
Josephine had to admit that she had misjudged the situation.
A one-in-a-billion occurrence had unfolded right before her eyes-a bachelor’s degree holder had outclassed everyone in the room. Even a novel wouldn’t dare write a scene like this.
And, of course, this was exactly the kind of face-slapping moment that fell on Josephine. She struggled to swallow her pride. Her expression was complicated, and she remained silent.
Amelia gave a faint, wry smile. “No need to apologise. I said I wouldn’t hold anyone back. Besides, with my level of education, it’s true I was an exceptional hire. It’s only normal for people to have doubts.”
She appreciated talent, and she knew Josephine was capable, just a bit blunt. There was no need to push her away unnecessarily.
“I’m sorry,” Josephine spoke up, her voice steady. “I apologise for my hasty judgment.”
She owned up to her mistakes, then looked at Jasper. “Mr. Langley, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have questioned your decision.”
Jasper knew her temperament and pursed his lips. “As long as you understand, that’s enough. Let’s get back to work.”
After the meeting ended, Jasper left the room with Amelia.
“Now everyone has to respect you,” he said.
Amelia smiled faintly. “You did that on purpose. Thanks.”
Jasper raised an eyebrow.
Amelia continued, “Usually, these calculations and projections are done quietly on your own. There’s no need to hold a meeting. But you gathered everyone here just so they could see what I can do. Of course, I wouldn’t let you
down.”

“You saw through that, huh? I was just worried you might be under too much pressure, so I wanted to ease it a bit.

Amelia said, “In time, everyone will naturally see the truth.”
Jasper shook his head. “It’s different. People have their prejudices against you. They’ll push you around at work and make things difficult. It’s better to settle it once and for all now.”
Amelia nodded. “Compared to doing research, you really are more suited to being a boss.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment,” he replied with a faint smile.
Amelia threw herself into work, and the day passed in a blur.
After work, she took a taxi to pick up Evelyn from kindergarten.
Evelyn leapt into Amelia’s arms, worry etched across her small face. “Mommy, does your hand still hurt?”
Amelia gently ruffled her daughter’s hair. “It’s okay. It doesn’t hurt anymore.’

Holding Evelyn’s hand, she asked softly, “What do you want for dinner today?”
In a sweet, lilting voice, Evelyn said, “You got hurt, so today I’ll make dinner for you, Mommy.”
“Alright,” Amelia laughed.
She opened the car door to get in, but a pair of hands blocked her path.
Frowning, she looked up.
The person smiled. “Mrs. Zephyr, Mr. Zephyr asked you to get in the car.”
