Chapter 68
Amelia had no idea how long Christopher had been standing there.
Most likely, he had heard Nicole call it a “sibling-style tattoo”.
Yet when his cold gaze swept over her, it lingered only briefly before sliding away.
No explanation. No denial. Nothing.
It was as if silence itself was an admission.
Just like in her past life, he had never cared about her dignity as his wife or bothered with her feelings. His indifference was absolute.
Amelia quietly pursed her lips. Thankfully, she no longer cared this time around.
She didn’t say a word and subtly shifted to leave.
However, Christopher blocked her path. His eyes, cool and steady, rested on the dress in her hands. “Why haven’t you tried it on? Waiting for me to help you?”
Amelia had no desire to waste another minute here. “I already tried it. Fits fine. I’ll take it.”
Christopher’s gaze slid past her and landed on Nicole. He smiled at her and said, “Do you like it? If not, try another.”
For Nicole, there was always a smile and endless patience.
Amelia snorted, then looked up at him and said, “Don’t forget what you promised me.”
This would be the only time.
She never wanted to go through this again. All she wanted was to sever their ties as soon as possible.
Christopher’s expression remained flat, his voice even. “Bring Evie to the banquet tonight.”
At seven o’clock that evening, Whitmore Manor brimmed with guests. Most were long-standing business partners, but there were relatives and old friends among them as well.
Amelia and Evelyn rarely came back to Whitmore Manor, and tonight the scale of the banquet was overwhelming.
By the time they arrived, most of the guests were already there.
The Zephyr family’s head, Richard Zephyr, glanced at Amelia and Evelyn as they entered. His expression gave nothing away, yet it was clear enough that he didn’t welcome his granddaughter-in-law or great-granddaughter.
Just then, Nicole swept into the ballroom on Christopher’s arm, draped in a custom-made evening gown. With her free hand, she held Nathan’s. The little boy looked dashing in his tiny tuxedo, the perfect picture of a well- bred heir.
Guests turned to look, admiration written all over their faces, and whispered voices spread through the hall.
“Mrs. Zephyr is wearing this season’s haute couture. It just debuted, and it’s already on her. Mr. Zephyr really dotes on her. They say this gown is worth fifty million!” a
Amelia clenched her fist.

Nicole wasn’t wearing the dress from the boutique earlier. She had always had this couture gown waiting, yet she still insisted on fighting Amelia for the other one.
Amelia’s lips curved in a cold, mocking smile.
How amusing.
In Christopher’s eyes, even Nicole’s second choice was something Amelia wasn’t worthy of.
She drew in a deep breath and turned her head away.
It didn’t matter. Not anymore.
She was leaving soon, and she had no interest in fighting Nicole over anything at all.
Guests continued to whisper among themselves.
“Mrs. Zephyr is even more beautiful than I imagined. We finally get to see her in person tonight.”
“Right? I’ve never seen her before.”
Christopher and Nicole moved through the room as if they hadn’t heard a word. Whether they truly didn’t hear or simply chose not to, Amelia couldn’t tell.
“Mommy…” Evelyn tugged on Amelia’s hand, her little voice puzzled. “Aren’t they talking about you? Shouldn’t you be Mrs. Zephyr?”
Amelia drew in a long breath. She had no idea how to explain this to her daughter.
In this family, the truth was simple. Whoever stood beside Christopher was his wife.
All these years of marriage, Amelia had rarely appeared in public. On the rare occasions she did, she was always dressed plainly.
Most people only knew that Christopher was married, but they had no idea who his wife really was.
And now, Amelia had no desire to fight for that title. 1
This time, everything was different. She had chosen a different path, and the story was unfolding in a completely
new way.
In Amelia’s last life, Nicole had still been overseas during the banquet. She hadn’t even attended.
Amelia bent down and whispered to her daughter, “I’m not Mrs. Zephyr anymore. Your father and I are getting a divorce.”
