Chapter 80
Christopher lifted a hand and rubbed his temple lazily, as if it didn’t matter.
“Set up some bath water for me, and get something to sober me up.”
Amelia looked at him, her eyes brimming with scorn.
What did he think she was? A free maid, a cheap laborer to have his children and take care of his household?
If this had been years ago, she wouldn’t have needed to be told. She would have rushed to tend to him, careful not to let him suffer even a little.
But now, Amelia found it almost laughable. Even drunk and barely aware of his surroundings, he still saw her as nothing more than a servant, leaving everything to her and doing as little as possible himself.
She let out a bitter, mocking laugh. “Ask your precious Nikki to wash you.”
As Amelia stepped out of the villa, she ran into Nicole, who had just returned from making a call.
“Mia, is the bath ready?” Nicole asked.
Amelia sneered coldly, then walked away without a word.
Nicole watched her go for a moment, then turned and went back inside.
Once Amelia was out of the villa compound, she took a deep breath of fresh air, feeling the tight knot of tension in her chest and mind ease.
If the brooch wasn’t returned to her by tomorrow, she would find another way.
The next day, Amelia received a text that the appeal had been approved and officially filed, and that the relevant documents and paperwork had already been sent out.
Since it was sent via local courier, if nothing went wrong, Christopher would receive the package today.
Seeing that text, Amelia felt the heavy weight in her chest ease just a little.
Christopher woke up with a pounding hangover.
As he headed downstairs, he instinctively called for Amelia to pour him a glass of milk.
Hearing the noise, Anna came out of the kitchen right away. “Sir, Mrs. Zephyr isn’t home today. I’ll heat up some milk for you.”
Christopher suddenly remembered that Amelia hadn’t come back. He nodded calmly, then went to change his clothes as if nothing had happened.
When he arrived at the company, his assistant gave a brief report on the day’s work and schedule.
By noon, after finishing his tasks and having lunch, he wanted to take a short break.
Just then, someone knocked on the door to the lounge.
He frowned. “Come in.”
An assistant came in and said, “Mr. Zephyr, you have an express delivery. It’s from the court.”

These types of deliveries came every month.
He didn’t even glance at the package and said, “Give it to the legal department to handle. I don’t need to be notified about these things in the future.”
The assistant was new, and she hesitated slightly. Since this package was addressed directly to him, the legal department had directed her to bring it to Christopher.
He seemed aware of that, yet he still wanted it handled through legal.
She nodded in understanding. “Okay.”
So, the assistant took the package to the legal department.
On Amelia’s side, the tracking showed the delivery had been signed for.
Then, Cyrus called to remind her to prepare for court.
Winona walked over, her eyes on Amelia’s computer screen. “I’ll back you up in court. That scumbag deserves to be punished by the law.”
She rested a hand on Amelia’s shoulder. “Charge him with bigamy!”
Amelia laughed softly. “I just want this marriage over.”
She had proof that her relationship with Christopher had fallen apart, but as for him and Nicole, everything was perfectly above board. She couldn’t find any concrete evidence.
Even if she had evidence, Christopher wouldn’t spend a single day in jail, thanks to the Zephyr family’s influence.
She didn’t want to waste time entangled in endless disputes with him. She only wanted the divorce and to finally
be free.
Gathering more evidence would be pointless. It was better to focus on one thing-ending the marriage and moving on.
