Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 101

Chapter 101

Tommy hesitated for a moment when Sierra asked him the question.

He wanted to lie and say Michael was the one who had brought her home. But if even he lied to his mom, then he wouldn’t deserve to be her favorite son anymore.

What’s wrong?Sierra noticed the change in his expression. Was it not Nicholas?

Tommy nodded his small head.

Sierra felt a little nervous. Then who was it?

Tommy lifted his head and looked at her, the struggle apparent in his eyes. After thinking it over again and again, he still told

the truth.

Dad did.

Sierra went still.

Dad changed your clothes too,Tommy said, deciding to tell her everything. He also took off your makeup, washed your face, and wiped you down.

Sierra’s expression froze.

It wasn’t that hard to guess what had happened, but hearing it with her own ears still made things feel complicated. The way John wanted her and Pamela to both stay in his life made her hate him. It was disgusting and made her sick.

Yet, he kept in mind every little thing she had mentioned only once. In spite of herself, that part of him moved her.

A line she had seen online suddenly came to mind.

A scumbag was someone who had everything you wanted except that he didn’t love you.

Sometimes when she thought about it, if she put Pamela aside, John really was a pretty good choice. He was cautious, warın, attentive, and so thoughtful that he even reported his cheating to her. But she couldn’t actually just ignore it. She couldn’t treat it as if those hurtful words had never been spoken.

I’m sorry, Mommy. When Tommy didn’t wait to see the reaction he expected, guilt filled his expression. I shouldn’t have let Dad come in.

You did nothing wrong, you silly goose. So, what are you apologizing for?Sierra’s heart softened. She lifted her hand and rubbed his head. I’ll be satisfied as long as you grow up happy and healthy.

Tommy nodded.

They finished breakfast together, and Sierra set the matter aside for now.

Once she dropped Tommy off at school, she headed to the office. On the way there, she sent Nicholas a message. Thanks for bringing Tommy home last night.

Nicholas replied with a single question mark.

Then, he called.

Sierra turned the volume down on her phone before she answered. Thanks.

What are you thanking me for? I didn’t pick Tommy up.

Nicholas had waited all night for a text from her. When he got home last night, he wanted to fill her phone with texts. Then, he remembered John was there.

Considering John’s character, there was a chance he knew Sierra’s password, and deleting the messages would cause issues down the line. So, Nicholas had held back until now.

Sierra paused. If it wasn’t you, then who picked him up?

She had already messaged the teacher at the kindergarten about it ahead of time. There was no reason they would let Tommy go with anyone else.

John’s people picked him up.Nicholas thought of how he had gone for nothing last night and instantly held a grudge against John. When I got there, the teacher said the old butler had already picked him up. He asked if you and John had forgotten to agree on who would pick Tommy up.

Sierra pressed her fingers against her forehead.

Some people in their social circle knew she and John were divorced, but the kindergarten teacher didn’t. In that situation, the teacher would naturally think the two of them had just forgotten to coordinate with each other.

Are you sober now?Nicholas hesitated a moment before he asked.

I am,Sierra answered.

Did anything happen last night?Nicholas had been carried downstairs by the guards and tossed into a car before he even had a chance to fight back.
