Nicholas gave Holly a thumbs up. “As expected of you, Your Majesty!”
Holly shot him a look and silently cursed his uselessness under her breath.
If Kenneth and John hadn’t teamed up at the hotel last time to set Sierra up, she wouldn’t have treated Kenneth so coldly. They had gone too far.
She would remember it for a lifetime.
“How did you get back? I thought you said your dad took your passport?” Nicholas asked.
They hadn’t met up for a while, and all they had talked about was how Sierra had been doing.
“Who knows what he’s thinking. He suddenly had someone give me my passport back,” Holly said, walking to the window and looking at the cars speeding past. “Maybe he finally found his conscience? Maybe he’s afraid I hold a grudge? Or maybe it’s
something completely different.”
Nicholas’s eyes shifted slightly.
He had a feeling John was probably involved.
If Holly’s father had really worried about any of those things, he wouldn’t have tricked her into going abroad in the first place, let alone taken her passport.
“Enough about that. All my credit cards are frozen,” Holly said as she turned and leaned against the window. “If anything comes up around this time, you should pay more attention.”
“As if you have to tell me,” Nicholas said cockily.
Holly curled her fingers into a fist. “Are you looking for a beating?”
Nicholas changed his tune in an instant. “Your wish is my command, Your Majesty!”
Holly called him childish and went to see how Sierra and Tommy were doing.
Nicholas stayed and talked with them late into the night, and Holly slept in the same bed as Sierra.
The next morning, Sierra got up very early.
Holly had already dragged herself out of bed with a yawn at six, watching Sierra move around the kitchen.
For the first time, she realized how ruthless John really was. He loved Sierra with everything he had, but didn’t hesitate to crush her even when she was still deeply in love with him. Sierra had never been the kind of person who got up early to cook breakfast.
“There’s a shop selling breakfast downstairs. Why not just buy something?” Holly asked as she stepped in to help.
Sierra looked a little surprised. “You’re up early.”
Holly lifted an eyebrow. “I had a dream that you needed me.”
Sierra couldn’t help but laugh and told Holly what she was thinking.
“The shop downstairs probably uses a lot of precooked ingredients. Tommy grew up in the Henderson household with a nutritionist planning his meals. If we change things too much all of a sudden, it might upset his stomach.”
Holly almost told Sierra that she was spoiling him, but it made sense when she thought about it.
You could wing raising a kid from the beginning and they would be fine, but Tommy had been pampered from day one.

“Just focus on work and visiting your mom for now. I’ll handle taking Tommy to and from school,” Holly said. That was what she had mainly come to say.
“You’re not going to work?” Sierra asked.
“My parents froze every card I have. Why would I work for them for free?” Holly said, unconcerned.
“That’s my fault,” Sierra said, feeling guilty.
Holly gave her a suspicious look. “You’re still not hung up on that scumbag, are you?”
“Of course not,” Sierra answered.
“Then, why are you taking responsibility for all the crazy things he did?” Holly asked.
Sierra paused for a moment.
“You really want to stand in for him like that? You want me to yell at you and not him?” Holly was using another way to knock some sense into Sierra.
As far as Holly was concerned, all of this was John’s fault. It had nothing to do with Sierra.
Even if Sierra got involved in this somehow, it was only because the two of them had been unlucky enough to be caught up in
this mess.
Warmth surged inside Sierra, and she hugged Holly. “Thank you.”
Holly lifted her hand and flicked Sierra on the forehead.
Sierra meant more to Holly than anyone else in her life. Sierra was there for her during her worst moments.
