Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 12

Seeing the situation becoming tense, Alfred called John.

“We asked you to name a price out of respect for the fact that you gave birth to Tommy,” Danny said, pressuring Sierra with the way he was looking at her. “But since you’re being so ungrateful, there’s no need to discuss anything further.”

Sierra replied, “You’re right, there’s no need to discuss this with me, because you don’t have any say in this matter.”

“What did you say?” Danny’s expression turned even colder.

“The divorce application has already been filed. Once it’s finalized, I’ll have custody of Tommy.” As Sierra said this, her body tensed, but she knew she had to face them head–on. “If you try to take him by force, I can call the police.”

Danny and Agnes’s faces turned dark. If not for the legal risk, they wouldn’t have bothered coming to talk with her at all after hearing about it. Once the divorce was finalized, it would be too late for them to change anything.

“How selfish can you be! You’d rather let him suffer and struggle with you than let him stay with us? Have you ever thought that he’s just a child?” Agnes lashed out.

“Custody going to me doesn’t mean his father is dead,” Sierra replied, feeling that all they knew how to do was manipulate and guilt–trip her. “I didn’t stop John from financially supporting him.”

“All you want is to use Tommy for money, just so John has to keep paying for your child support,” Agnes spat, her words vicious. “Someone as manipulative as you doesn’t deserve to be Tommy’s mother.”

“I may not be perfect, but I’m still better than a cheater like John,” Sierra said, not even bothering to defend herself anymore.

“So what if he cheated?” Danny shot back. “In our circle, that’s nothing unusual.”

“That’s exactly why I’m taking Tommy away from all of you,” Sierra said, growing more certain she was making the right decision. “If he grows up in a family with such twisted moral values, you’ll just ruin him no matter how good he is right now.”

“I dare you to say that again!” Danny couldn’t tolerate being talked back to by the woman his own son had kept as a mere trophy

wife.

However, Sierra stood her ground. “I can say it ten more times if you want.”

The tension thickened even more.

Then, Danny’s phone rang

Seeing it was John, he picked it up As his anger was still simmering, he immediately started complaining and said, “Look at the woman you married. She dares to talk back to me!”

“You said it yourself. She’s the woman I married,” John replied nonchalantly without the slightest hint of a son’s respect tor his

father.

Danny became even angrier, but he couldn’t take it out on John He glared at Sierra before putting the call on speaker

“Perfect timing, then Your mom and I have something to ask you ”

“About Tommy’s custody going to Sierra?” John asked without waiting for them to speak

Danny glanced at Sierra. “Yes.”

“I agreed to it,” John answered

The room instantly felt colder after he said that, as if all the warmth had been sucked out around Danny. The pressure in the room lowered.

“If she wants to raise him, let her,” John said evenly, not caring if his father was furious.
