Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 150

Chapter 150

The call came into Sierra’s phone, and the notification shown was the same as the first call. Sierra simply blocked the number again.

Give me your phone,Pamela demanded of Nora.

She couldn’t accept that she had lost so much and still hadn’t received even a trace of concern from John. Afraid he would see through an act, she had chosen to get hurt for real.

Yet, the result was nothing like what she had imagined.

John hadn’t left Sierra and Tommy to come sit by her bed. He hadn’t shown the slightest urgency over her accident.

In his heart, she was nowhere near as important as he claimed. He didn’t care about her at all.

Stop it! You’re being irrational,Nora said, thinking Pamela had gone too far. Don’t forget, Sierra is still his wife. What gives you the right to call and curse her out like that?

Pamela clenched her fists. Because I saved him!

And then what?Nora asked.

Pamela looked at her, not understanding the question. What else did she need? John had told her that he would take care of her and give her everything she wanted.

I don’t understand why you insist on tying yourself to him emotionally,Nora went on. Wouldn’t it be better to just take some money and live a comfortable, carefree life?

No!Pamela blurted out.

It would be best if she could hide the fact that she was taking Sierra’s place in the story for the rest of her life. If she had chosen to leave with money and the truth ever came out one day, with John’s personality, he would have a thousand ways to make her spit back every cent.

Her only choice was to bet on making him fall in love with her.

As long as he did, even if everything was exposed, he might still show her some mercy on the virtue of loving her, the way he did with Sierra now.

But you’re just hurting yourself by doing this. What else can you get if you keep at it? You know better than anyone whether he’ll fall in love with you, right?Nora argued.

She saw things far more clearly than Pamela.,

Those words dragged last night’s conversation back into Pamela’s mind.

She shook her head. No.

To her, she was convinced that John had only said those things because he didn’t know her well enough yet. If she spent more time with him and let him see her strengths, he would one day love her.

If he could fall for someone as useless as Sierra, then how could someone so much better like Pamela not win his feelings?!

Their voices carried clearly through the thin hospital door, to where John was standing in the hallway. His eyes, which rarely showed much emotion, were completely calm now.

So calm that Robin, standing beside him, felt a chill.

The door creaked open.

When Pamela saw him, her eyes lit up. She lurched upright, eager to speak. John, why did you only come now? Do you know that I

Lie down,John said coolly as he saw blood backing up into the IV line.

Pamela went quiet at once. Alright, I’ll do that.

She lay back obediently, eyes bright with hope as she looked at him, as if she were waiting for his praise.

John’s expression was calm, his mood impossible to read.

Did you just finish work?Pamela asked, uneasy under his gaze.

Yeah,John said.
